New Audeze LCD3

So far I just don't see that they could have saved very much weight on this design. Of course for those who had trouble with the Audeze "hot spot" will appreciate the suspension type headband.

Can those who have actually put a pair on your head please comment? Or are they allowing that?

I don't know if comfort is a priority for Audeze. If you heard that planar headphone panel (youtube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1nxXwHJURXU)... Mr. Rosson appears to be more focused on advancing the sound through actual material science changes, and sees more tolerable weight and improved comfort as the by-product of better materials.

With the new offerings from Hifiman and Oppo so focused on comfort as well as sound, I think that the new Audeze will lose some weight as well!

These headphones do look very promising, but with Audeze's pricing strategies, I think that these will be out of my budget range :frowning2:

Usually somewhere between $1400-$1600 from what I've seen.

I supposed it was not available for listening?
Looks like LCD-X housing with carbon fiber head band, which could means $1000 premium on that alone.
It's also got a new diaphragm and ultra high density voice coil. I assume the carbon fiber is just a wrap like this: http://solutions.3m.com/wps/portal/3M/en_EU/3MGraphics/GraphicSolutions/Products/Catalogue/~/3M-Wrap-Film-1080-CF12-Carbon-Fiber-Black-1-52-m-x-25-m-?N=3294576365&rt=d&MDR=true .

No, it looked the real thing, not a wrap or tape made to look like carbon fiber.

Oh well in that case you're right, it probably will be quite expensive.

Carbon Fiber is a lot less expensive than it used to be. It may not be that much more than the current LCD3 headband.

That aside, I'd guess this is a $2.5-$3k headphone. Hope I'm wrong, but flagships rarely go down in price. Can't wait to hear it though.

So. What's the current thinking regarding a portable amp to drive my LCD3s?

I got a good source already in a RWAK100...

TIA!

How much are you looking to spend, I enjoyed the Fiio E12 with the LCD-3F and my X5 as a source, had plenty of power for it and was only $100.
