Still on the fence about replacing my LCD3s with a Stax SR009 (and an amp).

What kind of amp will bring the best from my LCD3s, if I decide to keep it?
Budget is up to $3000 and I Prefer a tube aml

Nice cd-spinner you have Axel! I have the opportunity to by one second hand are you satisfied with it’ sound sig and do you use it mostly for cd disc or connected to a computer/streamer?

Sorry for the OT.

I'm quite enjoying my LCD3's with the Woo Audio WA7/WA7tp combo.

At that price check out the Cavalli Liquid Glass. It's spectacular and the sound is highly configurable.

You could give blue circle audio a call to see what kind of custom tube/hybrid amp they can make for ur lcd3..

Best to go to a audio store and audition the sr-009 before you open a can of worm like rgs9200m stated.

I've just replaced my lcd3s with the 009s - actually I've got both at the moment but if, as I expect, I end up using the Stax for most of the time I'll sell off the Audeze and Trilogy headamp. I'm using a modded Stax energiser 007 single ended input. To me there is more than enough detail in the bass - not as gut thumping as the Audeze but better defined.
I'm lucky in that my Nagra cdp has a headphone socket at the front for the Audeze via the headamp whilst the Stax is used from the rear outputs. I can switch between the two using the front toggle thus making the comparison easy.

lcd3 to 009? can 'o worms...

How so? Please elaborate.
Unfortunately, the local Stax distributor does not hold the 007/9 in demo.
So, it's not possible for me to audition them prior to my purchase.

Hi there,

I love the Ayon! I use it as a CDP-DAC-Pre.
Recently I'm using it mainly as a DAC-Pre, but I do listen to CDs from time to time.
It's preamp section has beaten many sub $10K preamps that I've tried in my system.

BTW, how about the Leben CS300? I can get my hands on a s/h one for a very good price.
Is it a recommended match with the LCD3s?

I absolutely loved the Leben with the LCD-3, personally. I sold my Leben after many years of enjoyment during one of my decluttering fits, but I miss it :xf_eek:

The Leben is supposed to be very nice, although I really like the Bakoon HPA-21 with the LCD-3's.

Member "Vert" recently switched from the Leben to the Bakoon (see the Bakoon HPA21 thread), so you might want to contact him to get his thoughts as well.

Cheers

+1 or a Woo WA5.
