You can search Ebay for some auctions. I bought my Denon AH-D2000 for 300 USD, including shipping and taxes.
I love my Denons! Maybe because they were such a huge upgrade from my 10$ headphones >.<

I don't know about the D1100 though, Never tried those.

You should search Ebay for a good price. I recommend you get the Denon 2000 if you can, especially if you find them in a much lower price =P

EDIT: I forgot to add that I know for sure that the Denon ah-d1100 has more bass than the M50, so it will suit you more if that's what you're looking for.

I have never really imported anything from america. Was a bit worried about the time it needs to arrive and this part:

""Please contact your local UPS office and/or customs office for details of these charges as they apply to you in your country. ""

Im a kiwi too, in regard to importing things GST in new zealand is 15% of the price you paid for the item, but customs will drop GST on importing if the GST is less than $50 NZD. So if you import an item costing less than $333nzd then you wont be charged gst.
Shipping can be up to $60USD.

However that jansen link I posted lists the m50 at 249nzd, which is very good. importing form america (incl shipping) would be $266.
Please note I have never purchased from them so I cant guarantee their authenticity.

I was thinking of importing from amazon:

Ultrasone HFI-780 S-Logic
$159.95

FiiO E7 USB DAC
$89.00

250 USD
around 300 NZD

How much would the shipping kost though?

From what I can tell, amazon will ship the headphones (I do not get a warning saying they will not), however as for the e7 I do get such a warning. Amazon WILL NOT ship it to NZ.

It appears amazon does not have any shipping restrictions for ultrasone headphones, that is very rare and interesting.

As for the e7, you should be able to get it from here http://headphones.com.au/psingle?productID=504 and many of their products have free shipping to NZ.

Yip it seems that amazon does ship to NZ but i also have not purchased from them.

As for the E7 from  http://headphones.com.au/psingle?productID=504 arent these listed in AU dollars? if so that would mean its around $140 NZ. I brought mine from http://www.dealextreme.com/p/fiio-e7-1-1-oled-usb-dac-3-5mm-earphone-volume-booster-power-amplifier-black-34383 for $100 NZ and yes it is legit.

Bit up on the price but after listening to the Ultrasone 780 - I cannot even look at my Audio Technica M50 for EDM.
