I'm planning to buy a pair of cans for my sister for her birthday or Christmas gift or graduation gift. I have a pair of Senns HD280s. She's listened to them and really likes them. She's also listened to a pair of Beats by Dre and loved the bass on them (our dad raised us to be bass lovers). I've been researching a few headphones but I've come across a fork and am in need of input.
Ideally, I want to get her something that has a powerful bass, similar to the Beats or better if possible. However, from what I've read, the Beats don't perform so well in other aspects of sound when compared to products half (or even a third) of its price. So I'd like to strike a good balance of powerful bass and great sound quality.
These are the four headphones I've been looking at (though if anyone can suggest anything better, I'd be more than happy to look at it):
AKG K181DJ
Audio Technica M-50
Sennheiser HD25-1 II
Beats
So which would be best for powerful bass and sound quality (and maybe comfort? I heard the K181DJs were quite uncomfortable)?
