If you try and find bad things about headphones, they will come up. The MDR-V6's are still great, its just that the old Samarium Colbalt magnets change over time a lot more than neodynium and if you compare an ancient (e.g. Made in Japan) V6 with a newer one, they will probably sound different... and the M50's are suffering from hype backlash more than anything.

As for recommendations, I would suggest the ATH M50.
