NAD Viso HP50 : Another superb headphone from Paul Barton?

Heard the HP50 today for the First Time at the High End Fair in Munich... And have to say, I don't care about that weird headband any more. It doesn't look *that* bad and the Sound is just beautiful. Actually they also look quite good overall...

Oh oh, scary to see you over here. And scary to see you liking the HP50's (potentially scary for my wallet!).

How do they compare to the dt1350's sound wise?

Tbh, that is probably been the one thing holding me back with these.

I tried a demo pair at a shop; they sounded good, but my short trial was not enough to convince me they were as good as the hype.  I was not impressed with the build quality; holding them in in my hands they felt cheap and very plastic - definitely not worth the $300 asking price, imho.

So what do you suggest otherwise.  Saying "don't get them" without any reasons isn't really helpful.

On the contrary... There are so many good things said here, but if someone feels it is only hype then don't get them. I swear by mine, excellent sound quality. There are many others here that also swear by them.

So far, am loving the purchase of the HP50's coming from Grado 60's.  Much more revealing, focused, and enjoyable in a mobile use!!  Still burning them in, and havent done a side by side with the Grados yet.

I'm running them on a MBA, just through the built in sound card, and my iPhone 5.  I know they can sound even better if using a DAP.  The Geek out has my attention.  Anyone heard the HP50's with the GO, or a good DAP, that can tell me the difference I might hear?  thank you!

BTW, some of you must have HUGE ears, or mine are smaller than I think.  My ears fit comfortably inside the pads, and I have a large noggin, but I can get a comfortable fit with these, I put the adjustment a notch or two below fully open, and the bar doesnt touch my head and I get a good seal and sound.

Na, your last encounter wasn't *that* expensive ;-)

I'll have them in June I guess, comparing them from memory is not a good idea I think. Furthermore it was a fare (though a real room, not a showbooth), I did not spend enough time with them to actually have more than an 'active interest', but not a complete assessment. I think they are more like to the T51p than the DT1350 though.

Surprisingly my ears fit in the pads, no problem with that. And contrary to many I did not find them cheap feeling. Yes, the back of the cups is plastic (and shiny... what can I say), but the rest feels very good actually. The squarish headband... well. I used my phone to take a look but did not take a photo. Not the best looking thing in that regard, but far from Beats (which I really despise for their design alone).

Thanks. If they sound like the T51P's, but with cleaner bass and a bit more transparency, then they are definitely winners.

I have both the T51p's and HP50's. There are a few similarities sq wise. HP50's are overall more clean, detailed sound. When on the run I grab the T51p. When at home and I want a closed phone it is the HP50(for the most part).

Well you people did it to me again.......just ordered a pair of HP50's today.

That's 2 pairs of headphones, a DAC and an amp in less than a month! (Sorry about your wallet is right!)

On the plus side I got my Beyerdynamic Premium 990's for $229 and the HP50's for $219 (not refurbished....but "open box"- full warranty). So that's $680 worth for $450.....not horrible.

Geez for that I could have picked up a pair of Senn's 650's! Actually I'd much rather have they Beyer's and the NAD's than one pair of 650's.......but that's me.
