Musical Paradise M2-D2 AK4490 Balanced Dac Reviews?

2.2, 400v. I listened to my system for two hours last night and I'm really delighted with these caps. The don't sound "warm", "clinical" or "organic". They just make voices and instruments sound as they should. Zero colouration.

I'm using Mundorf upgraded Magnepan 1.7s and a Plinius power amp and the micro details coming through, and holographic soundstage are really excellent.

I need to start saving up for a Supratek Cabernet preamp to accompany this world class dac now. I have a YS Audio balanced A2 which is ok but definitely holding back the system overall.

Have you had any experience with Supratek amps? I'm looking at their Chardonnay pre..

I finally tried some 12AU7's and I like them. I'm running some vintage NOS Phillips (Holland) and they seem to be at least as good as as any of the 6V tubes I've tried. Very nice midrange and upper end. Nice depth to the soundfield. About 25 hours on them. Very easy to listen to. I have some RCA's too running in the extra sockets. After a hundred hours or so on the Phillip's'll try them.

Decided to roll the rectifier. Here's what happens when you're not careful enough. :sob: $200 down the drain although I didn't pay that much at the time ~$90. My USAF 596 is destroyed. Woe is me. Anybody want to buy the adapter? LOL
$20

Hi, I’m really interested in this Dac. Has anyone used it with a Woo audio wa6-se, I currently have a Bifrost Dac and I only Use rca and optical, do you think this combo would be tube overkill? I’m looking at this to be the last Dac I buy. Any advice would be greatly appreciate.

My new MP2 arrived last week. Been burning it in.. I rolled some tubes and found that my fav combo is 12au7 Philips Miniwatts and Mullard Gz32!
Wow what a coincidence! That's my favorite combo too although my Phillips is not the Miniwatts version. According to Kevin at Upscale, Phillips owned Mullard and Radiotechnique and the tubes I have were built by Mullard.
The Mullard GZ32 certainly isn't mentioned as often as the GZ34 but dubstep girl's review rates it very high, somewhere among the best. https://www.head-fi.org/threads/dub...mparison-rectifer-tube-rolling-thread.694525/

I think that I'm about through with rolling rectifiers and will let the GZ32 stay in my system indefinitely. Will get rid of the socket saver and go direct.

Mine is actually the made in Australia version of the Philips. I have some Russian 6922 rockets coming soon to compare. As for the rectifier, I'm keen to try out the Genalex gold lion u77.

Have any of you tried the external clock yet? Definitely improves performance even further.

In what way? Can you describe it a little more? Do you already have the upgraded clock built into the dac?

Yes I have it installed with the ESS chipsets. It increases resolution and information retrieval.
