Music Paradise 701 MK2 Preamp and tube rolling

Yeah, maybe that's why mine is kind of bass heavy.
The higher the coupling caps value, the more emphasis on the low frequencies. If you want more bass, you put a higher value within the range for the coupling caps, if you want less bass you put a smaller value. I hope that 8.2uF is a mistake, because with some capacitor brands, an 8.2uF film and foil cap is almost half the size of a coke can.

Well, here is a picture of the cap, it says pb8.2, I was thinking maybe the pb8 is the model number, and maybe it’s a .2uf.
But that would be too low. See what you think.

I believed you, I just couldn't believe to why Garry failed to mention it in the list of changes, since it is a substantial change. Now, I am wondering what else that he failed to mention.

As you can see I just ordered more 2.2uF caps to add to my already existing long list of 2.2uF from different brands.

It is 8.2uF. I just checked the catalog from the manufacturer website; the model is PB followed by the cap value.

All the spare caps I have are too small, so I was thinking of getting some mundrof.
Now, that will be a problem fitting such value of the Mundorf Supreme caps into the case. These caps are huge. For example, I wasn't able to fit 3.3uF of the Mundorf Supreme Evo aluminum in the case of my Mk2 version, I am guessing that the MK3 has the same dimensions.

Yeah, I will have to check the dimensions.
So why do you think they went up on the value on the caps?
I would have to see the schematic to confirm why, but these caps are meant to block any DC signal from the supplies from going to the amplifier/speakers. So they are DC blocking caps. It could be to further lower the noise floor at the outputs.

I've also noticed the higher values of the stock caps. I swapped them anyways for Mundorf 2.2 Supreme Evo Aluminium Oil without any issues and without any lack of low end or warmth. Currently running an Emission Labs 274B mesh rectifier with 2x Philips E80CC SQ pre tubes and a Philips E181CC PW as cathode follower. Fed by a Holo Cyan 2 into a Soncoz SGP1 power amp driving my Cabasse Murano speakers and I'm very happy with the results. I've used a Feliks Euforia as pre in that setup before and I think im might like this setup even more now with the MP-701. Also finally being able to control the volume from the listening position again is priceless :).

From what I gather, the capacitor range that the MK3 can accept is from 1.5uF to 10uF. So yes 2.2uF can still be used.

No, I left the power cap stock for now.
