I listened to the Select DAC when it debuted at my local dealer last year. It's remarkable. I cannot imagine anything better except hiring a band for a private performance.

Since earlier today I have been running the DAC with headphones directly - 2x3 pin XLR output from Select 2 DAC to 4pin balanced headphones. It surely does work.
 
I will post some impressions comparing it with my EC Studio. This was an area I was particularly interested in.

I have changed my DAC recently and got a used Audio Note DAC 5 Special, kind of at the opposite end of the spectrum re technology, mine is more old school. A great system is good for the soul don't you think?

MSB Diamond DAC IV? DAC 3?

From what I've read, DAC IV was a big improvement over 3 and it seems that it is a similar case from 4 to 5.

wow, I am still stuck at MSB analog dac. just got a USB quad and hope to trade for a renderer. heard renderer is better but limited by player (and the post pre processing)
