MrSpeakers ETHER C Review / Announcement - A New Closed-Back Planar Magnetic Flagship from MrSpeakers

That's what I was afraid of..

Maybe I can find one that I can use w/ my HD800 and the Ether-C

You can do what I did to make my Ether C cables modular using the female version of the connector that Dan uses to the HD800 connector.

Since I only have the Ether, my modular area is on the amp end, made adapters for 4 Pin XLR, 1/4" TRS, 1/8" TRS and 2.5mm TRRS. Same principle just less wires and different connectors.

I've noticed a problem w/ my ether-c.. one of the spokes on the headband popped out on the left side. looks like the screw securing it is a little loose and it just slipped out of the hole.

Looks like it would be simple to just put it back in and tighten the screw down again, but I don't know what kind of screw it is. I emailed them through the website a few minutes ago, so will have to see what they say.

edit -

They're going to send me a shipping label.

Quick response time, too.

Can someone post a link and/or provide model number of Ankar battery on amazon.com to use with my (love this DAP) QP1R?

I bought this one for my smartphone and QP1R. It can charge fast and charge two at once. It is a good price due to there being a newer model, which is why I bought it. I have carried it on a plane several times.

Thank you for taking time to provide link to Ankar product.

You are welcome. It can keep my S7 Edge at 100% charge over 7 hours of driving and still have over half the battery left.

To try and alleviate the ear pressure problem, I plan to try some non-leather pads.  Any better recommendation than this: http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00ZGFVEUE?psc=1

I have those arriving today - I'll report back later tonight and letcha know what I think! Any particular type of music you enjoy that I could test for you?

Nice! General impressions with whatever you know best is probably sufficient/most useful. But I listen to rock, folk, country, jazz, electroniccy pop kind of stuff (radio head, James Blake more than straight edm). Pretty much everything...

My decisions keep getting tougher as I dive deeper into the audiophile world..

I have to make the decision soon whether to get the Ether C or move up to the speaker big leagues and get an Ascend Sierra Acoustics Sierra-2 or Sierra Tower.

Both manufacturers hit a soft spot in my heart, they are both made in the U.S. and also in California. Mr. Speakers is over near Rosecrans St. in San Diego and Ascend is up near San Clemente where I go surfing sometimes.

So these just came in, and initially at least I don't know how you're supposed to get them on the Ethers. The hm5 ones someone recommended at 10mm wider with the same height, but aren't angled as far as I can tell. These ones are 110mm tall by 80mm wide, the em5s are 110mm tall by 90mm wide, and my ruler says the Ethers are 105mm x 105mm (although where they attach these don't look 5mm taller than the Ethers). So back they go!

That Anker charger is a beast. I have one and it charges and charges and charges and charges...and fast!

velour pads were discussed earlier in this thread. see post #1809

Bottom line: hr5 breainwavez pads don't fit. HRM 7 pads from Pioneer fit

back in december 2015 they were unavailable for order, and this still are unavailable. :frowning2:

Of course you can purchase an HRM 7 for $200 and use the pads on the Ether C :)

Or, you can try here. If you get them, please post a review of how they feel and sound with the Ether C

Ah, Rakuten says they can't ship them to the US. I'm thinking of just making a cover for the current pads. That might suffice.
