  Hahahaha..much much better man.....
I keep telling myself that my Prime is still new-ish so I am not in any rush to get the C..but i gotta stop coming here if i were to give myself any chance. With 1=4 exchange rate,I am looking at at least MYR6000.00 before shipping and taxes.Dang I shuda stick with my beats and skullcandies and be happily ignorant...

As far as I know the current going rate for the open Ether in Malaysia is bout 7000, including DUM cable.

 To air is human ?
(I wont quit my day job)

I know what will happen. I already have the open version. I will order a C and when it arrives, the two headphones will look at each other and say:

"ETHER he goes or I go".

(Off to work I go..)

This is torture. I am 100% satisfied with my set up and have no complaints but as soon as they come out I know I am ordering these, selling the prime, and buying a vanquish cable as well just to visually complete them. Unless the dum cable is cloth then I will keep it.

Thanks for the tip, but that's a little far from central London for me. (I'm sometimes in London for a day or two for work).

Interesting to see the price: US$1800 (20% more than US price, but considering the VAT is 20% that is very reasonable overall!) Still..wish I could get the Canadian price

I will be in Kiev on September 23, the the Kharkov area for a couple weeks thereafter. Guess I could add a pair for my annual delivery:beers:....

I haven't had a ton of time with the Ether and I haven't listened to them back to back so take this with a grain of salt:  I think imaging is about the same and I think the soundstage on the open is bigger (because it's open!).

That said, the soundstage on the C is probably the biggest soundstage I've heard on a closed can.  Dan says that the soundstage on the closed one is actually bigger, but it's hard to tell unless you're in a silent room.  He says that in a loud room, the isolation cues your brain that you're listening to a closed can and so you perceive it to be smaller than it actually is.  Without that external cue, you can tell that the soundstage is bigger.  Note:  you still won't have the "air" of an open can either way.  That's part of the tradeoff of going closed tho.

Again, they're very close in many ways.  Much closer than you might think from all the impressions bouncing around.

I would love to compare the C to my McIntosh MHP1000 since those have the biggest soundstage in a close headphones that I have ever heard so far....

@HiFiGuy528 brought his McIntosh and I got a chance to demo them.  They were certainly one of the better closed, dynamic headphones I've ever heard.  I wasn't crazy about the shallow pads tho.

I didn't try them back to back with the Ether C, but from memory, I think the EC was bigger.

I agree, A little bit thinker pads on the MHP1000 would be much better.
I can't wait for RMAF to listen to the EC based on this the soundstage must be impressive.

When and where will I possibly be able to audition them? Located in NYC.

We've got the open Ethers now and hopefully the C in October.

"I love the cups of the Ether C and would like to own a headphone that was all in house. On the flip side the prime is my first headphone that I have yet to find a flaw in and after 6 months or so still wow me. My only "complaint" is a paranoia over a theoretical difference in driver matching. hat however has never had an affect on my listening."

Posted this in the Reddit thread (similar to this) so I ask the collaboratively sane heads of headfi

If i should stay happy or jump for the Ether C?

What if I pre-order........and then a semi-open version is announced third week of October that blows away the C?
