MrSpeakers Electrostatic Prototype Listening Impressions
Mar 16, 2017 at 6:46 PM Post #226 of 937
  I'm only talking about electrostatics. I've heard Stax and Orpheus (a local dealer had them just one day for an event), and heard them as others listened. They leak like crazy, hence my original statement that I don't believe addressing leakage was a priority in these designs. At all.

My comment still stands vs the e-stats I own, have owned, and have listened to.  These are altogether different.

@mrspeakers - I think that would serve you better...the use of a quiet room if it is an option.  It might limit the exposure to more customers, but whatever serves your company and customers best.

If you need isolation and no leakage, there are closed headphones. I agree it makes no sense to compromise in order to achieve less leakage because again, these are open headphones. Try cupping most open headphones with your hands and you'll see what it does to the sound :p

@mrspeakers
 Can you share if you're working with any amp companies to release electrostatics amps for your Electrostatics prototype? I'm looking for a decent one at about $600 and below, but there doesn't seem to be much choices right now.

Nobody is considering an amp that low priced, there are vendors working on getting something together at prices around the price of the headphone. The cheapest option would be the Woo WEE, which can sound pretty good off a quality amp.

Thanks for the honest reply. Man... That's a real problem for me. The problem with the WEE is that it only works with power amps which I do not have. And I don't need one because I don't have passive speakers.

For me, I guess my best option is to get the kingsound m03.

I'm curious when the iFi Pro ESL will be available and for how much. It was originally mentioned seemingly from an iFi rep off camera in this video to have a release date of January 2017: https://youtu.be/FYnH93pgK5w?t=34s

I've heard nothing about it since!

We're excited to have near production grade product at CanJam LA.  Next up a few changes are coming to the exterior; but the sonics and core driver design are now done and ready for final production tweeks.

What about the Woo GES... $1590?
