MrSpeakers AEON Flow Open - Impressions Thread

Please watch what you write. Many of us been using the website longer then you and we don't complain.
Really?
i'm certainly not looking to 'start something', but I really don't think it's that bad.

Sorry if I offended you, but I really don't think expressing frustration is unwarranted. I could have used 'WTH' but I doubt people would have understood.

The frustration isn't with Head Fi, which I've enjoyed for quite a while, but with the new iteration, which we've all been using for the same amount of time.

Either way, I'm really looking forward to more impressions of the AFO to start rolling in...These may be exactly what I've been looking for.

Dan, for a family photo - you should have included AEON's mom and dad (Ether Flow open and closed)... ;-)

To my ears, the Aeon Flow Open is remarkably close in sound. I would probably lean to say the Ether Flow to me is better than the AFO but it is not super far apart. And for coming in at $1000 less than the Ether Flow, the AFO is a nice value.

ether to me are more gentle, i don't know the audiophile terms in english to define it.. i feel they are super smooth, silky smooth. like putting on a scarf that gently strokes your ears with creamy sound.
afc are more dry, they don't excite me.ù
ether is the first can that can compete with lcd2 and that gives me that chills with EVERY song i play. from metallica to epeche mode to beck to jess glynne to everything else.to my ears obviously. ant is more confortable than lcd2 that i sold cause i couldn't stand with all that weight

Got mine this week. Sadly running them direct out of my MacBookPro, but have some Schiit coming along with an iDSD BL. Even with the lowbrau driving I love the sound. Best other cans in the house to compare are Audeze Sine. Running them back, and forth with the same source the AFOs had more sub bass and a bit more relaxed stage. The Sines are an "exciting" headphone, but it doesn't get to harsh in the treble which I'm sensitive to. Most of my listening to date has been on very good Focal near field monitors for mixing songs, with some Westone IEMs Pro 60s for good measure and travel.

My reference is Voice by Hiromi. I know the album well and saw the trio support the tour live at an intimate venue, then saw them another four times. I know what her piano is supposed to sound like, I know Simon Phillips kit pretty well, and I have a very good idea of Anthony Jackson's Fodera 6-string Hybrid as I played a 5-string variant at NAMM some years back. The AFO makes me very happy listening. I'm picking out details I have missed before, and getting very little fatigue despite the clarity. Am using the black pads which are supposed to be the weakest.

Cans are light, love the cable material - total win. Now just waiting for some better widgets to play Tidal streams into them.

From the photos, the AFO look 'small' by comparison the the Ethers ... are they a close fit to the ears ?

I would consider my ears a little larger than average and my left ear sticks out further than most. I do not have any issues with the Aeon in terms of comfort or "roominess". The interior dimensions of the pads are quite large; larger than many larger headphones.
