So, I recently purchased a pair of AKG K702, which I'm enjoying, but I can't help but wonder what I might get by moving on to a better pair of headphones.
While I'm liking the K702, I do have a few issues with them:
- slightly too sibilant. I want silkier vocals.
- soundstage. While I love the huge soundstage, I don't like the fact that low frequencies seem to come from the side, and the higher the frequency gets, the more central it becomes. It feels a little unnatural.
- soundstage is not deep enough. It's wide, but not deep whatsoever. Vocals still feel like they're coming from inside my head.
What I do love:
- airyness. These headphones don't feel claustrophobic at all.
- highs. Nice and detailed.
- bass. Textured, without drowning the rest of the frequency range. Could be a little 'quicker' though.
- comfort. While they are fairly light, the headband is not overly comfortable due to the lumps on it.
What might I expect, moving to say either the HD800 or the LCD2? Are there other headphones I should consider?
