I got mine from B&H for $109 shipped. They are out now but if you want to wait a bit, use the "Notify me" function and you will get an e-mail from them saying it's in stock. I highly doubt B&H sells fake stuff considering its reputation.

Shoot, yup I just checked B&H as well and put in the info for them to notify me. M50's on headfi go WAY too fast to keep up with. Anyone know of any sellers on here still looking to sell them?

1) I actually have Denon D1100 coming my way but I ordered from UK to Finland so it'll arrive at like 15~21th Dec and I ordered to my parents place where I will spend the Xmas holiday. I believe D1100 are the only headphones at this point that might be more to my liking than the XB500 as I've spent perfectioning the XB500 by EQing still a half year afterwards and I still keep lowering or boosting some values by 0.1 increments to find the optimal (yes I'm a perfectionist). HFI-580 I think could be slightly too bright for my liking and the bass slightly too weak. I'll write some impressions later when I test them but since the equipment at parents place isn't the optimal and I will only give some impressions at that point but I plan writing an in-depth review later after 2th January or so when I return here to my appartment.

2) Yes it's possible to have both punchy mid/upper bass and strong deep bass. That's what XB500 have but it's very rare for headphones to deliver both a strong upper bass and deep bass at same time. AKG K 518 DJs for example packs a VERY strong upper bass but lacks in deep bass. Also XB700 for example ONLY delivers the deep bass. If XB700's deep/upper bass focus is like at least 70/30% deep/upper then  XB500 is like 45/55% but that doesn't mean I concider the deep bass on XB700 to be that much stronger, in fact I feel XB500's deep bass is like at least 90% of that of XB700 but at same time it feels like the upper bass is like at least twice as strong which XB700 lacked in and this results in a very good balance vs deep and upper bass on XB500. D1100 seems to also deliver both strong deep & punchy upper bass and feels like it's got capabilities to perhaps even deliver the optimal 50/50 balance ratio between deep & upper bass that's what I'm kind of expecting, just a tiny bit less punch & impact compared to XB500.

If I listen to a lot of pop music, do you think the 580's be a better choice for me over the D1100's?

I haven't heard HFI-580 but it should have more forward midrange/vocals than D1100 so I suppose it would. D1100 is like slightly laid-back sounding while HFI-580 is a bit forward sounding, more forward sound can be engaging to listen to especially for pop, electronica and alike but may have a bit less transparency while D1100 is more laid-back, the sound doesn't sound as "up-front"/in-your-face but it has a sense of great soundstage and instrument separation/transparency. Personally I had went with HFI-580 even if I haven't heard it as I think the sound I've heard described would seem to fit pop a lot better IMO.
