went ahead and got the Brickwall 2-outlet power surge protector for a great price, $204.

this makes a lot more sense than the Panamax bc that thing was 11 outlets huge and i only have two things to plug in, my Moon and my MacBook.

thanks again Mediahound.

A nice compact unit if you only need two plugs is the Furman AC215a.

I actually had that Furman unit prior to the Brickwall and noticed improvement in audio quality after ditching the Furman. YMMV, but that was my experience.

Fair enough. I've never been able to try the Brickwall or ZeroSurge units as they don't seem to be available in Canada. It's mostly Furman up here, and SurgeX is popular enough that I can find them on the used market occasionally.

I've heard SurgeX is also quite good. The only reason I didn't go with them is that they take a few watts of power even when nothing plugged in to them. The Brickwall takes only about 1 watt. I did a bunch of research before purchase.

Did u get the heavy duty?
I am still not clear if it is only surge protector or it provides any cleaning/regulation/conditioning as well.

You were not bothering me at all, speaking for myself.

With my Moon 600i I got very loud transformer hum even with an AC regenerator and I did notice slight less dynamics with it. A few days ago I got a tacima mains filter for 30£ which almost removed the transformer hum and improved the sound. So unless you have issues with your mains power I would bother with any conditioners.

Loud transformer hum is usually due to DC on the line. Which regenerator were you using? I'm surprised that one would not do anything unless the output waveform were choppy.
