Agreed with much of this.  I have the new M5 and the bass is subwoofer like and is balanced bass without a mid bass hump.  The new one is easy to drive from my Apple products and is a very good low volume IEM.  I haven't heard the older versions but the new driver is fairly balanced sounding and isn't dark to me.  I believe this was the design intention with the new driver.

It all depends on what kind of bass you want.  Something with a mid bass hump will have the feeling of more bass quantity but that mid bass will not be the quality of the M5 sub bass.  The M5 is a dynamic driver.  Dynamic drivers need a lot of burn in but provide you with better timbre and realism in the low notes.  Balanced armature drivers need no burn in, tend to be leaner in bass but are very fast and punchy.  Better speed can give you more clarity and instrument separation.

Choices, choices.  If you are anything like the rest of us, one set of IEM's won't be enough.

Thank you very much for the help:) I am leaning towards the Atrio m5.  Just a few more questions. How about isolation, is it good? And are the Atrio durable? Because i will be using them for working out. The Chord must be durable, because again, i will be using them for physical work.

Could you please compare these to the Black monster turbine. Because i currently have those, and I am wondering if the price is worth the change.

Thank again,

I think isolation is very good using black Shure foam 'olives' tips, which is a separate purchase. I didn't care for the stock tips provided. I just don't care for biflange tips. I've only had them for a couple of weeks, so I can't tell you how durable they are long term. They seem like they would be. It's a pretty strong plastic housing and I think the cable is good too. Doesn't tangle easy like some other brands. I've used them doing chores around the house and detailing the car but not working out.

I've never heard Monster phones, so I can't compare. I think another phone you should consider is the Westone 3. Westone cables are the best IMO and the housing disappears in your ears. They are balanced armature, so the sound is very different from the Atrios.

Yah but the problem with the W3 is the price. Unless i buy for under $200. I can't get them. I actually want the W3 the most, its just the price. Could you recommend a place where they sell them for a good price? I live in Canada BTW, so its harder to get good deals here.

You can't get W3's that cheap new. I think earphonesolutions.com ships to Canada for free if you spend over $100. Google coupon codes for them. You can usually get 10 to 15% off. Or call, some places give better deals by phone.

You can get the atrios for under $150 if you search around enough. Soundearphones.com has them for $179 and you can usually find a 15% off code. Not sure about their shipping though. Wherever you buy them, just make sure you get the new m5 with the mg7 driver. Confusing huh?

Yah i was thinking of calling earphone solutions. They are so cocky, i was checking the Westone 3 price and they talk about warrenty and then there is this quote and he says his name and even gives his direct line. So i think i might call and ask if we can make a deal. Anyhow they give you free shipping, the worst shipping, no insurance and no tracking. So its pretty much useless.

i've owned the um2s, w2s, and mtpc, and atrios (as well as many others - see my profile) though not at the same time. i don't get the love that the dynamics get. for whatever reason, i don't hear their bass as being special as many others seem to. nothing about those two iems (mtpc & atrios) floated my boat. the um2s i found a bit dull. the w2s are well balanced and very light and comfortable and i was rather surprised at how well they performed. i know someone who uses that as his iem of choice when engaging in physical activities (and he has a bunch of others to choose from). due to it's form factor i have to wonder how well the tf10pros would work during exercise. i liked the old shure e500s quite a bit both wrt their form factor as well as their sound. you might want to look at a second hand shure 500/530 or a w3 as you might find some within your budget.

another option is to buy second hand tf10pros (there are some on the fs forum now for <$150), and go with the $90 kozee custom remolding job. you could have excellent results and be within your budget!
