I was looking at the Emotiva A2mini just for the fun of it, and noticed this in the spec sheet for the headphone port:

Power Output (headphone output; normal mode):

• 8 Ohms: 60 mW / channel

• 33 Ohms: 200 mW / channel

• 47 Ohms: 250 mW / channel

• 150 Ohms: 430 mW / channel

• 300 Ohms: 440 mW / channel

• 600 Ohms: 350 mW / channel

Power Output (headphone output; direct drive mode - requires internal jumper; USE WITH CAUTION):\

• 8 Ohms: 50 watts / channel

• 33 Ohms: 12 watts / channel

• 47 Ohms: 8.5 watts / channel

• 150 Ohms: 2.6 watts / channel

• 300 Ohms: 1.3 watts / channel

• 600 Ohms: 0.6 watts / channel

The Direct Drive mode should be called SUSVARA Mode. :D

Your comment is related to amt somehow?

Did not feel like posting this in another amp thread or the Show Me Your Setup thread.

And we're all enthusiasts here, so let's not be a gatekeeper for a minor OT.

But if you DO want it to be On T, the Direct Drive mode is 2 watts too much for driving the AMT, which has a 10 watt for 200ms @ 32ohm max.

Changed my DAC filter settings to something a tad more accurate, Super Slow and high speed drivers is not a great mix. (Using Low Dispersion, which was introduced by AKM with the AK4493) Did some AB comparo with the M1570 and AMT stock FR to find pitfalls, and found the AutoEQ profile was reducing the mids a tad too much, losing some impact / texture. Current EQ:

Code:
Preamp: -3 dB
Filter: ON LSC Fc 105 Hz Gain 7.5 dB Q 0.7
Filter: ON PK Fc 3385 Hz Gain 6.1 dB Q 1.42
# Filter: ON PK Fc 965 Hz Gain -2.22 dB Q 0.92
Filter: ON PK Fc 76 Hz Gain -1.6 dB Q 0.33
Filter: ON PK Fc 8567 Hz Gain 4.1 dB Q 0.9351
Filter: ON HSC Fc 10000 Hz Gain -1.6 dB Q 0.7
Filter: ON PK Fc 128 Hz Gain 0.8 dB Q 1.58
# Filter: ON PK Fc 231 Hz Gain -0.7 dB Q 2.3
Filter: ON PK Fc 60 Hz Gain -0.7 dB Q 2.75
Filter: ON PK Fc 2167 Hz Gain -1.1 dB Q 5.43

That feeling you get when New is cheaper than Open Box...

Meanwhile on MP's Ebay portal, it's even cheaper still for New...

Ordered this last week. I think I’ll have it tomorrow or Tuesday. Ordered a balanced cable that should be here in a couple weeks from AudiophileNinja. Excited as this will likely be my endgame as long as they’re in good condition and I like them. If the soundstage is good and comparable to the senn 800 I’ll be content.
More to come

I hope the balanced cable you ordered works on the Monolith M1570 / AMT headphones, with the reversed pin layout of GoldPlanar.

Just read your gear, and you are going from HE-5XX / DT-770 to the AMT??! Wow, you are in for a treat! Just remember they need EQ to correct mid flat response.

I have EQ installed on the computer and the imported settings from Chastity ready to go. I’ll be playing with single ended on the Jotunheim and the full power out on the A100. Hopefully I catch my fedex delivery today as they’re terrible about delivering to my apartment.

I do believe I found my endgame with these. Right out of the box the bass impact is incredible and I thought I was happy with the DT990 & HE-5XX. The sound stage will take a little bit to get used to in say Diablo 4 - but the sound separation is excellent. I love being to definitively make out the environmental effects. Well driven off the single ended out of the Jotunheim 1. I'm very pleased right now.

I too had to adjust the spatial timing in Redscape to account to the new cans, which once dialed in I was very happy with the psychoacoustics. Glad you are enjoying them as we do! I have the DT-1990 and M1070/M1570 and the AMTs easily outperform them for layering and imaging, let alone detail.

I'm only using Peace + EqualizerAPO. I have redscape installed but for gaming I'm just using default settings. I did purchase Dolby Atmos for Headphones (Windows 11 feature) a long time ago. Haven't played with it in forever either. Once my ears adjust I may tinker further but for now I'm absolutely thrilled with these cans. My other tinkering I want to do is the balanced cable (just received tracking today) and I'm considering saving up for a Schiit Aegir 2. I have the Speaker Tap -> XLR cable in my stash. Just no adequate amplifier as the A-100 isn't better than my Jotunheim for quality. The noise floor on it is not good.

Not surprised. I think the Monoprice AMT is by far the best bargain in high end audio. In my system with EQ they have bested a number of high-reputationed high end headphones including the Sennheiser HD800S, Dan Clark Expanse, HEDDphone 2, HE1000se, and Gold Planar GL-2000.

I can understand this. In HEDD threads, I often see people preferring the fuller sound coming from the HEDD v1 compared to the v2, and the Monolith AMT is more akin to the v1 design, and subsequently the GL850. I've done my own comparisons to other kilobuck cans, and determined that the Monolith AMT is the King of Price vs Performance in Headphones in regards to sound quality, and perform better than headphones many times the price. (aka Utopia)

But not everyone will like them, as they are still a heavy can. (680g) So those who's priority is comfort over sound quality, then they will look elsewhere. I still get a chuckle watching Zeos' review of the GL850 where he says that they sound like a slightly harsh HE-1. And I did note the Monolith AMT do pick up a touch of harshness when running off the Liquid Spark, which completely disappears when driven off the Liquid Platinum, so I guess we now know why the HE-1 amp has tubes. :)
