How to change your Walkman to Japanese Region and also Uncap at the same time

remember to restart after successfully change your Region


create a new folder named “Tool”

New updated Link for the Tool, click here


Download this Tool for Windows

Then this one

Then move both of those files into folder “Tool”

Then rename your “Scsitool-next-v25” into “scsitool-nwz-vX”

Then open the folder up and run this “open_cmd_here”. You will open command prompt

Then you will copy “scsitool-nwz-vX.exe H: dest_tool set J off” Please Pay Attention that your “H:” should be what your Walkman is shown on your windows. Mine show up as “D:” .

Then Paste this command into the command prompt windows and hit “enter”

You will see Successful messages

To make sure, you can check it by running this next command by copy and paste “scsitool-nwz-vX.exe H: dest_tool get”. Remember to change “H:”

Please copy only the line within “xxx” and not the “ “ itself

Then replace "set J off" part with "get"

If i recall correctly it will get the current region.

Can't speak for other regions, but for region CH i think Sony deliberately tunes the player by sharpening the details to please Chinese customers. As we know Chi-fis are resolution monsters but mostly not sounding organic. Smoothness and hard-hitting bass are not always welcomed in China.

Thanks but unfortunately they don’t work. There’s this error message that appears: Update will be terminated because the firmware data has collapsed. Redownload the program. Error code: -60002.

Hello everyone! I recently got a sony wm1a and am really tempted to try the cable mod. But first step would be to get a soldering iron. For now, still hanging tight in the safe heaven.

D1.02 AND D1.01 are 90% the copy of DMP FW version 1.02 and 1.01
The 10% difference of files are the necessary adaption of file for the official DMP FW to work on 1A/1Z properly.
