Modhouse Audio Argon - T50RP MK2/3 & T60RP

More I mess with argon 3 the pads suck. I placed 1266 original pads but can't seal gap the driver needs air but the current config suffocates the driver. Needs a port like the Smeggy Thunderpants. I ordered automotive window seal. Going to seal gap where ear pad slips into. Stick with larger pads, currently Audeze sued LCD pads. Add a port.

Sorry to bother you on an old thread. May I ask how your liking the T60's? I recently got my pair and was surprised to find the treble way more forward/much brighter than anticipated...struggling to AMP pair them. I pulled it down with my RME DAC (EQ)...still not much better. Curious for your thoughts?

I liked the 60 but I moved on. I have 2 modhouse Argon's 2 and 3 versions then I have another really old mod t50 which is Smeggy Thunderpants. The Argon 3 I modded better the 2 seems fine and Thunderpants is good as well. The 60's need a SET tube amp with a warm sound. Or a Wells Audio Milo which adds bass bloom and a warm midrange keeping the treble at neutral. If you compare that headphone it has the same power requirements as Abyss 1266. Very low sensitivity and impedance of 50ish. Below are pics of three headphones and two amps I use. I just ordered a Milo to give me something different and solid state. Also if you have not purchase Zmf sued Oval pads it helps in absorbing high energy but bass will change. The Smeggy needed mods as they sucked. Too much treble and weird bass. They are fixed. What I do is go between each model and grab each difference and twerk it. All the drivers are good but the tuning is not going outside comfort zone.

Smeggy has bass ports but wrong pads and absorbing material.

I'm going to show everything I did so you can copy. Everything is reversible just save the old parts.

The t60 there is a good chance that it is influenced by the Smeggy Thunderpants. Fostex has one that was aquired for just purpose.

I have finally returned home and could compare T50RP MK3 with Campfire Cascade.
Long story short: Cascades sound WAAAAAAAAY better. They are not comparable at all.

Maybe because my pair of Cascades is tuned with XL pads and ALO SXC 8 cable.
Who are those people telling about 3D effect of Argons? Cascades have much better resolution and instruments separation and much much more spacious sound.
The only advantage of Argnons is better bass control with good quantity. But again Cascades have much more detailed bass.

A bit disappointed with all the waiting and the result
Would keep Argons for bass-heavy music where Cascades extrude my brain through my nose.

I find that the Cascades and my T60 Argons are Very different headphones. I don't find my Argons all that bassy, but they really take to bass boost. Definitely a darker sound with the Argons. Fun, but very different. I don't find them at all bright. I have the oval suedes.

The Cascades are in my top three, but the Argons are fun for occasional listening for a change.

Are there any options to replace stock SE cable? Did anyone have this experience and notify any difference?
And what is the name of the connector on the headphones side?

My Argon is still in Pennsylvania getting the balanced conversion, but as far as I remember it, the connection at the cup is just an ordinary 3.5mm TRS connector. The Fostex-supplied one does have an extra locking mechanism on it, but an ordinary one will still fit.

And are there any owners of LCD-2C here who could compare them with Modhouse T50RP MK2/3?
I own the LCD-2C and the T60RP Argon. Both are keepers for different reasons because they are obviously different. Love them both. They allow me to sit back and enjoy the music without being over analytical. Plenty of clear detail and more than enough punch, and slam.

PC > Bifrost 2 > Jotunheim 2 :)

Thanks. So is it possible to EQ LCD-2C to match the sound signature as Argons have? Especially in bass response. I really like how Argons sound, but they're lack in some details. Tired to EQ Argons with no luck.

This is a cable that was 15 ft from C3Audio. I have to make left and right changes to equal the bass. But put it together and need longer screws. I got rid of the stock wire completely. Soldered thicker canare cable to the driver. Also seal the wire holes.

I currently have MK3 SE with a lock mechanism. I'd like to switch to Periapt Pro XLR cable. Would it fit well in the lock mechanism or do I need to remove it somehow? Modhouse does not respond to me for some reason.

You'd need to have the single ended wiring on your T50RP MK3s replaced with balanced wiring for the Periapt XLR balanced cable to work. Have Emailed Modhouse a few times myself, and never gotten a response. Most of their products appear to be sold out.

Maybe someone on this forum who has actually dealt with Modhouse in the past can offer some suggestions. Best of luck!
