Get an SMSL 200 stack or FiiO K9 Pro.
Of course there are other numerous options from iFi to Schiit etc.
ideally i need 3x balanced outputs:
1) 4.4mm
2) 2.5mm
3) xlr

otherwise i could also do it with an adapter, for example with te fiio k9 pro.

Difficult, most desktop devices now have XLR and 4.4.
which is fine, too. because i would by from dd hifi the 4.4mm to 2.5mm balanced adapter.

While Elite definitely my most favourite headphone, the copper colour of Empyrean is still more beautiful cosmetic wise. Kind of give "warm and comfort" feeling just like the Meze house sound.

There's something there for sure, that copper finish goes rather well with Empyrean's sound profile indeed.

Please stop, you're feeding the "Empyrean is just for looks" narrative
The Empy isn't the outstanding piece in this picture. :yum: (for me)

But dang, i want all three. ^^

Agree, the copper earpad grill are unique in Empyrean/Elite line up, this is also my personal favourite when I spend three days with Empyrean in CanJam New York 2018.

I've tried two cables and my comparison to the stock cables:
  • Meze Silver Plated PCUHD: Cleans up the top end with more details; transparent/clean; well balanced; If you're craving more details, this is the cable.
  • Norne Audio Drausk: Vail lifted; smoother; magical mid-range -- can't put my head around it, but I think the mid-range is cleaner, but yet full bodied; If you're craving more mid-focused, full body, this is the cable.
  • Meze stock: Baseline -- still very nice IMHO and I still use it on occasion to remind myself of the differences. I would happily use the stock cables knowing the differences are built on a solid foundation.
In the end, I think I'm finding that I'm a copper cable person chasing "musicality" over ultimate resolution/transparency. I haven't tried full silver cables yet - they're a bit pricy so we'll see if I adventure into that range; but so far I'm really happy with the Norne Drausk.

Ahh yes. When the Elite came out this fella was overshadowed a tad. It's difficult not to mention its* copper grille which really brings the whole 'look' together. Taking this opportunity to share mine as well. Feels like a nice big warm hug in the middle of winter.

The Burson C3XR is a fabulous dac/amp combo, which pairs well with the Empyrean.
However, it does not function as analog amp. It's analog input goes to A/D conversion, then back to its D/A converter. It might sounds as brilliant idea, but for me what I have heard was not that brilliant. So now I am looking for an SS amp, which could have been avoided by taking the separate dac and amp.

OK more love for the Copper Empy colour scheme. Here with my new Auris Euterpe. The synergy here is incredible
