Meze EMPYREAN - the First Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone

Looks like I've just become a member of the family, order placed with silver cable and should be getting them in a couple of days. No big deal waiting as I still have the demo set on loan thanks to the Jack at Audiobarn in Essex. It will be interesting to hear how differently a brand new set with the silver cable will sound on first listening to the burned in demo set with stock cable.

Welcome to the family! :raised_hands: Don't be shy and share your findings with us, that's indeed a comparison we want to find out more about!

Been awhile since I’ve been here, but I am asking what people’s opinion on a empyrean Jr would be.
I’m having a hard time thinking of selling them, but they would pay for a very essential piece in my music making, so I am asking what lesser cost headphones has brought you closest to the Empy sound.

Beyer 1770 are the intention for a mixing pair. :)

While I'm going through burning in, one thing can say so far is that they are sounding pretty good fed by the Fiio M11 and that's the single ended output, not even balanced. Nice I can give the Hugo2 a break as it's probably exhausted by now :relaxed:

So I own these beauties now for a few months.
Burn in should be complete.

After receiving them I sold my other headphones.
The Hifiman Arya were the only ones surviving the initial purge.

Yesterday I gave both a good listen and decided to also sell the Arya.

They are also great cans and when listening to them after I didn't listen to any music for a while they feel awesome. That awesomeness fades when A-B ing with the Empyrean.

The Arya gives more emphasis to highs which makes a few Songs more captivating at first but also more fatiguing at high volumes. They are excellent when you want to listen analytically to music.

The Empyrean on the other hand has this seductive full Sound. I had to remind myself several times to listen carefully for the comparison because I simply sank into the music right away.
Initially when I bought them I thought I might prefer the Arya over them for Orchestral music with lots of string Instruments. However after the burn in I prefer the Empyrean even for this Genre.

Even though I never had issues with comfort, after the Empyrean it's hard to go back.
It will be really hard for the competition to create something that can beat the full package of the Empyrean, and that at any price. Even harder considering the Empyrean is one of the cheapest flagships out there.

Thanks for the heads up, guys.
Now, it's even harder for me. ^^
Have to A/B them to my Quad to make a final decision.
All that has been said about the Empy belongs to the Quads also, except the summit of comfort, i think.
If the Empy is similar to the Era-1, i'll stay with and look for a complimentary one, i guess.
Is there someone with knowledge of both?

Do you guys have any recommendations regarding burn-in?
I personally just used them.
Some reported last changes after ~150h
First noteable ones after about ~50h

I have the M11Pro, honestly they are very enjoyable together, although using low gain my volume sometimes go to 90.
