I have Phonitor X. It plays brilliantly with Empyrean. I use the lowest additional gain setting. Needs good chain upstream, and will force you to upgrade other things, if that is not the case. Phonitor X is my favorite solid state amp, of the three I have.

Empys almost always need EQ with any amp IMO, and to get clean detailed base, you need more power than just what can technically drive the phone.

Hmm that Phonitor has taken my attention. I see you're also having RME ADI-2 as me, from which I'm currently feeding Empyreans and I sense that they're being underpowered. Could you please describe sound improvements, when playing Empys from Phonitor instead of RME's own amp output? I'm really considering pulling a trigger on that one, but I could use some advice from a personal experience. Thank you!
