Some things that I found online in my price range that I can probably audition:

New - SONY TA-ZH1ES

Anyone have experience with these as dac amp combos?

Mmmmmm...... you can't go wrong with either of these with Empyrean. Or Both.

Hats off to Team Meze. The Empyrean is fantastic. For my tastes at least, it's the best I've had.

I am currently away from home with the empyrean and ifi micro black. Along with Tidal, this combo is all I need for musical enjoyment. I do not miss my 2 channel system at home, and I am a speaker type of guy (well I thought I was).

I've only got the gold+silver (for my ciems) and gold plated silver (for full size). Sounds clear up top and tight low end with slight mid bass/low mids elevation. Never tried tri silver.. Maybe try the PlusSound thread for an answer? I'm sure someone there can help you out.

My anti hifi sister also enjoys the empyrean. She is a classically trained pianist. I know if she likes it, it must sound really good
