MEZE AUDIO ELITE - The New Isodynamic Hybrid Array Headphone - official thread

Now that the Empy has been rev'd to V2, I think we will see a new Elite in the next 12 - 24 months. I have no idea where Meze will go but I have a feeling they will likely use metamaterial tuning to fine-tune and even out the upper-midrange / treble response. This will likely be in addition to improvements to the diaphragm itself. This is in keeping with the new Poet's design, which I think is pointing the way as to what technical directions Meze are working in. Thoughts?

I can see this coming true. My concern is that there is a new "house sound" meze goes for. I haven't heard the empyrean 2 (and 109 for that matter), but they seem to attract those who disliked meze before; basically those who I share opposite opinions with the majority of the time.

As a lover of the elites, I won't be surprised if I won't enjoy the new elites when they come out. But I'm sure they will be successful.

I’ve been thinking the same for a while.

Yes, agree. Maybe it's my lack of imagination, but I don't have a clue in which way it can be improved. At best it will be marginal. My next purchase will rather be a better DAC-amp.

It is easy. Who liked Empyrean or Elite already have one (or two 😉). Those who did not like it need something different.

Try some nice tube amps.

Yeah I think they will bring a new Elite with QWRM / AMTS in the old form factor.
As a fan of both Elite and Expanse I'm very looking forward to that.

However the tuning direction change of recent releases is worrying.
Also the very soft Impact of the Empyrean II was rather unfortunate.

Yes, I know, there are many tube amp fans around here.
Once I had an Audio Innovations 500 in my main system. I didn’t like the extra care and maintenance and the fact it takes some time to warm up for an optimal sound. However I’ve never heard a dedicated headphone tube amp, so I might give it a listen to the Feliks Euforia and Elise. The Envy is beyond my budget.

Aegis.

Versatile tube amp. I've not heard tubes (NOS or New Production) that don't play well with the Aegis.

Once you have the amp, your tube rolling can be as expensive or as cheap as you can afford, from $25 to $300 plus.

I promised my self, if the next generation of Elite sound worse (to me), then I will buy Elite OG again. Elite is really special.

Hi all! I recently picked up a pair of elites and can happily say they are the headphones I have been dreaming of for years! So happy for so many reasons.

I’m finding myself wanting to wear them as I move throughout the house and so I’m looking into finally picking up what would be my first DAP. Do folks have experience and would you be willing to share?

Specifically my needs are for streaming through Tidal most of the time on Wi-Fi, occasionally listening to downloaded files from streaming services, obviously enough power to drive the elites and potentially noir X if I pick that up too, enough portability that I can throw it in a loose pant pocket. I’m always extremely interested in the most Bang for Buck.

Any suggestions?
