Meze Empy series are the most comfortable TOTL headphones I've ever auditioned and thus far, no other maker have come close to achieving that (based on my large cranium). And it's also one of those headband designs that do not have any hotspots on the top of my head after prolonged listening sessions.
Off-topic, however, I have to agree to disagree on the high impedance dynamic headphones through powerful amps not sounding fundamentally different. I own the 6XX and listening to it from my SuSy Dynahi, beta22, Pathos InPol, La Figaro 339; all yield varying differences in sonic quality and quantity. 6XX with tubes (TungSol 5998) and OTL sound absolutely phenomenal and the bass hits like a truck.
So at the end of the day, synergy still plays a role in the chain but it's much less apparent for some headphones than others.
