Expanse thread is literally on fire due to that reviewer lol

I think, even if it is at the exact position (reviewer love Expanse and hate Elite), this thread will remain in peace and simply move on discussion as usual.

In term of satisfaction to enjoying good music, I think ZMF Caldera is a bigger threat than Expanse to challenge Elite.

I’ve just opened the Expanse thread after your recommendation and it was worth it, thanks! guys there seem to be really mad at some guy who said that Expanse is great but he personally preferred Elite lol

BTW I watch Lachlan's reviews from time to time and he always puts so much effort to express that the headphones/DACs etc he compares are fantastic products but it is just him who has a preference for one or another. I don't know how anyone can watch it and then say that he's "unfair" or "doesn't understand something"

Exactly... he goes to extremes to explain why he likes something (or not) but that it's his preference and that nothing at this level performs poorly. Personally, I find his reviews a useful guide as to whether something will be of interest to me as he seems to have similar tastes and he doesn't make do with something if it doesn't suit.

Indeed. The very fact he felt the need to do that update shows his commitment to giving an informed opinion.

As a ZMFfanboi I agree this could well be the case. I'm on a loaner list for the Caldera -- gonna wish I still had my Elite to compare when it arrives (in 3-4 months).

Sure the Caldera will prove to be quite a good headphone. And Lachlan is a very good level-headed reviewer, one of the best and most trustworthy IMHO. He was quite clear in his position so no reason for those guys to get all butt-hurt. In the end, it's your money and your preference. For me, I am perfectly thrilled to have my Elites and my 4z with new pads. Both just exemplary headphones. Any further upgrades will be in amp and dac, and no big hurry there either. What I have just flat works for me. It's a great place to be.

But seriously, isn't it great to be at a level where there is much excellence to choose from, and it just comes down to personal preference. I still prefer my Elites over my Susvara and LCD4 for instance, even though I think both of those are pretty great. I'd never slag any headphone that makes this bar. (Happy to have choice).

why does anyone care what an individual thinks?...this is a subjective hobby...people have different likes and dislikes...are different ages,have different hearing ability..listen to different music etc...if a consensus of reviewers think a HP is either great or terrible I pay attention..an individual means zero to me

More mature, refined, yet nicely detailed without sibilance and exemplary sound staging. Surprised the Elite are as good as they are, keepers for sure. The Expanse owners should also be very happy with their selection. There are numerous awesome headphones to appeal to everyone. No need for angst and vitriol.
