The fiio k7 seems to be perfect with the 109 pro even if the output of the k7 is natural if i read right.
What i wonder how much a tube anp might affect the sound i dream on owning one
I agree. HiBy's RS8 R-2R smoothness and analog tonality is a great pairing with 109 Pro in addition to Cayin's latest N30LE anniversary limited edition DAP with dual tubes and triple timbre. N30LE's Tube Classic mode has that colored tube warmth, fullness with R-2R tonality yet still highly resolving.

After 50 hours or so of listening, I can really say that the peak of high frequencies has calmed down a lot but without loss of detail. I really didn’t care too much about this peak, it was an interesting and intense sound, but now it’s more easy to listen and natural.
Fog City Audio sells XLR cables. I got a 4-pin CLR extension cable from him and like it.
I also second the 4.4mm to 4-pin XLR adapter solution. I have one on my Schiit Jotunheim 2 at work which allows me to wear any headphones on my walk commute and quickly unplug from a portable DAC/DAP and plug into my work desk stack.
Just put my 109's back on today. This will be their second run through with me. I liked them the first time, but wasn't blown away. Curious to see my reaction this time.
Starting off with the new Crosses album through a Violectric V220.
