Meze 99 Classics Discussion + Impressions Thread

I would also agree. I LOVE these phones! I use them every day at work during lunch. IMO, they don't need amping and sound great with my phone, which is a Note 4. I am planning on getting a new phone this Friday, hopefully a V30, or at least a V20.

I have some doubts about my SR325E'S and my PM3'S. My HD6XX'S are arriving this week. Lots of changes in the next several months, but I will be keeping these for the long term.

On a minor note, I constantly get compliments on the appearance from co-workers and customers.

I get the same complimet from everyone and I mean everyone. What’s funny is when they ask me what kind of HP that is and I tell them it’s made by Meze, I immediately get the deer in headlight look and get a “Who?”

NOBODY has ever heard of them!
Of course 99% of the public has ever heard of most headphones, except maybe for Beats.

The 99's are the second pair of HP'S that I have ever received compliments on. The other was the B&W P5's.

Nice Shane!

I just got the V30, and can guarantee you it (or the V20) will outdo the Note's audio quality for sure. If you get the V30, set the Quad DAC's settings to "Enhanced" and "Short" for best sound. The phone itself is incredible. Outstanding battery life, audio, 2K screen, speed, camera, etc.

What was your last phone?
Do you think the V30 is better than a DAP? At least a cheap one.

I called my carrier about one a few weeks ago. Without signing up for a new mega plan, my cost would have been $699.00, plus tax. That is 15% in my part of Canada.
I said no thanks and he said that I really needed to call back on Black Friday. We'll see come Friday morning.

I am thinking that if it is that good, I mght sell the DAPS and speaker docks that I have and just go with one DAP. Probably the X5iii, but maybe the X7ii if I could enough for all the goodies.

Just got my Pioneer XDP-300R yesterday. 99C pairs so well with it. Its really good out of the Opus#1 but the Pioneer seems to add a bit more depth and clarity. Time to put the #1 up for sale lol

It was the HTC 10. A FANTASTIC phone as well. The battery life was good but the V30's is much better. Audio-wise it most certainly held its own vs. the V20. I actually chose the 10 over the V20 because the V20 was a bit too big and the 10 had a better camera. The V30 is actually smaller than the V20 but with a bigger screen (due to the switch from 16:9 to 18:9), and I don't like big phones, so it was all good with the smaller 10.

Yes I do think it's better than at least most cheaper DACs, and maybe even some matching some more expensive ones. It has a very powerful amp that can drive up to 600 ohm-rated headphones, and a fantastic Quad DAC on it.

Yeah try back then and see what happens. I got my V30 through T-Mobile, which had this great promotion where you get the LG V20 or G6 (G6 is worth $500) for FREE through a rebate. Gave the G6 to my mom whose phone was like 4 years old. She was very happy about that. lol But I could've sold it for a pretty penny too.

You could also try checking Amazon too for the unlocked V30. Just make sure it's compatible with your network. I think it comes out December 5th in the U.S., so probably around the same time for you.

Hey guys, thinking of buying these as an upgrade from my current cans, either buying on here or amazon, (AKG K545, if you were curious). I've heard differing things between these and the 99 neos, is the difference substantial?

I also see that on Amazon UK the white ones are £80 cheaper, is there a reason for this?

And finally, is there anything I should know going in before buying?

Also, is there anywhere I could listen to these in the UK? Meze appears to have a large presence in Europe and somewhat in the US, but nowhere I can get a demo in the UK (I'm in Leeds, if that matters)
