I understand your scepticisme. Don't believe it's (only) between my ears. Tried it with a blind test. My partner changed the cables, I wasn't able to see them.

OK, i'm intrigued, so what happens to the signal when it gets to these none silver plated connectors, printed circuits and cables?

You would need to be soldering your silver plated cable with SS-47 solder straight to the drivers solder pads (which even then will have none silver plated ultra thin voicecoil wire for the final part of its journey. Also soldering with SS-47 straight to your sources circuit board as close to the amps output as possible (which won't have a silver plated circuit or components).

p.s. Happy Christmas and this post is meant light heartedly :L3000:

Has anyone heard anything additional about the open back 99s that are supposedly coming? I hope it didn't get buried.
I'm sure in the works. Meze takes sooooo long with their stuff. In the end it's been worth the wait though. I love the Solo's.

Could the Meze 99 classic fan hope that this would be a Mini Empyrean?
I'd be happy with something in between. I just want all of the open back characteristics in the 99 Classics. That would be pretty close to my perfect can. I just hope it remains affordable - as in 500 or less.

As long as they're able to release quality stuff as they did thus far, waiting is fine!

I have just bought the Meze 99 Classics and it has the cable with mic and remote only. Is it better to use a cable without mic/remote. If this is the case could someone recommend a cable that would be a good replacement?

I have the Meze SPC balanced cable and it’s great, even with a SE adapter. Tbh, the OFC stock cable with mic holds up by comparison, once the wire gets straightened out. I don’t see much of a reason to swap just for the sake of it,

Hi PopZeus, I see you have the Meze 99 Noir which are indeed the headphones I have decided to go for. What do you think of them in general?
