Puzzle me more and more, I have seen only good things about iDSD Black Label

iDSD Black Label is pretty much like the end of the DAC/AMP journey for most of us - incredible everything and more

My in-depth review/analysis of iDSD Black Label should explain more about it - basically iDSD BL is pretty much one of the best things you can get and should last you a long long while, since it drives everything, from IEMs to full headphones with excellency.

I didn't find it the best pairing with the Meze 99C.

A great DAC, no doubt. Just a little peaky for some headphones.

The two of us will never agree on some things

How could iDSD BL be peaky with anything is something I don't fully understand, I always wish my sources were brighter and more energetic up top.

I bump the 16 kHz region with 8 - 14 dB for 99C - I have a feeling that we are looking for different signatures in general though.

As always, there is no right or wrong - just different tastes!

I do keep my position though, iDSD BL still is the thing I recommend the most in its price range, and even above. It is pretty much the high end DAC/AMP that I fully recommend.

Indeed. You and me do look for very different things from our gear. Yet we both love the 99C. :D

i dont

unfortunately i dont have EQ :) i listen it through headphone amplifier and CD without EQ.

Oh, I see! I'm not sure how to help you out in this situation - Meze 99C has its own unique sound, really hard to find a closed back headphone with a similarly good sound, especially in this price point...

Perhaps the B&O H6 would be a better choice. They sound very nice and although the bass is good it is not as much as the Meze. Or the Sennheiser 598 CS

If you really want wooden cups The Kinden B8 is a nice headphone too.. https://www.amazon.com/Premium-Headphones-KINDEN-cancelling-Beryllium/dp/B01L75I5N0
Oh That is a good idea...I have those...also known as BossHiFi B8 but Kinden package includes a decent case. Now I need to get them out and listen again! I have too many headphones!

if you don't mind spending more you could consider the NightOwl. I love my NightHawks which are more open the NightOwl is the closed version. Some people have both.
