Meet the Sennheiser IE 80 S

IE60 has no where near as deep a bass as the IE80. I bought a pair and quickly sold them as they just did not do it for me in regards to bass.

True, I guess only someone who owns both IE80S and IE60 will be able to say for sure. My point was more about the fact that the IE60 did not have as deep a bass as the IE80 so I wonder if the IE80S would actually have less than the IE60. It sure would a big change from the older models!

Under no circumstances...
aralmim, just for the sake of clarity are you saying, having heard both the IE60 and the IE80S that the IE60 has less bass than the IE80S?

Excellent, thanks aralmim it's good to have someone who has heard all 3 comment on the bass.

I think I was one of the biggest fans of the IE80 (before I purchased Aurisonic ASG 2)... I read all the comments here and I'm very disappointed that people compare new IE80s to IE60 :frowning2: I used to love 80's because of amazing bass that they produce, and after that stage, loudness, and many other things. I think most of the people love them because of that, they were amazing back days, why going backwards? shame on you @Sennheiser...

May I know if anyone has done a comparison between the IE8 and the IE80S?

I used to own an IE8 until it broke after many years, and it was my favourite IEM. Sennheiser replaced my broken one for free with the IE80 (Thank you guys! Fantastic customer service!) but the IE80 never sounded as good as the IE8...

Yes had the ie8s before getting the ie80S, the ie80S is infinitely better, better fit, better sound, more depth, more bass..and they work which the ie8s didn't. The bass adjustment simply didn't work on the ie8s and then the sound started dropping, was never happy with them at all.

Ok, but the bass on IE80 is higher than on the 80S and the soundstage is wider in the 80, with more high levels in sound, than the 80S.

My only hope is that after a burn-in period they change somewhat similar in their sound like the 80 were...

Seems like I'm the only idiot to buy IE80S in the last three years? The IE8 was one of first mid-range IEMs and was always a favorite. So much so that I had custom molds made for them. Eventually, I moved on but an opportunity to grab a pair of IE80 S came up and I couldn't pass them up. I realize at normal price these get killed these days but at a huge discount, they are still a great sounding IEM!
