Meet Alpha Prime

got my alpha prime today, really a busy day. Initial impression was very positive, and I really enjoy the sound. Impressions will follow. However, Dan could you tell me what is the impedance for Alpha Prime? I tried Prime with my OTL Apex Teton, they work together like a dream. But Teton with WE421 has almost 120 ohm output impedance. it worked awful even with LCD-3 Fazor.

Are you saying that your OTL Apex Teton that uses a single 6080 tube works well with the Prime but not the LCD-3? I am not sure what you trying to say?

Yea, with WE421A, Teton works well with Prime, but definitely awful with LCD-3F.

  Yea, with WE421A, Teton works well with Prime, but definitely awful with LCD-3F. 

That is amazing a single 6AS7/WE421A has enough juice to drive the prime. I am using 4 6AS7/6080 tubes in my LD VI+ amp.

I got a chance to hear the Alpha Primes on the weekend and really, really liked them. It has a very detailed sound, by no means clinical or harsh and is one of the best headphones I've heard period.

Thanks for your impressions on the Alpha Dog Prime's and how they compared to other closed back headphones. I also liked your impressions on the HE-560 and the Audeeze LCD-X.

Thanks for that review. I was curious about the LCD-X, HE-560, and Z7 before ordering the AP. That was very helpful. I'm actually feeling better about my purchase.
