Has anyone done a proper review on these yet, I am tossed up between the Alpha Prime and the LCD-XC for a office headphone...

You just need to look a few pages before this one... mike already posted a review...

  Sleep is for the weak.

The first post-RMAF Alpha Primes start shipping tomorrow.  We'll be moving slowly as we want to ensure quality.

I upgraded the shipping for the first lot, but most are International.  We'll ship more on Wednesday next week.  Tracking notices go out when the units ship.

Ah man I know the feeling :[ I travelled to northern california a few days after I received my AD in the mail. That week was fun but at the same time it was nerve wracking just waiting to get home and listen.

I have my doubts on an upgrade to AD Prime. I just can't fathom how my AD could sound any better? Is that strange? It is honestly the perfect headphone and after the my cable upgrade it really shut up all my qualms about any of the sound.. But the AD Prime, then it is possible my AD could scale even further with an unknown driver modification.. I will have to wait approximately 12 days til the San Diego meet to find out!! The day of judgement!! for headphones.. not mankind

I have these ordered with the XLR cable, hoping to get my Geek Pulse by then. No such luck with the Pulse and yet another delay from LH Labs. What a frustrating mess that campaign is.

So, that leaves me without a unit with XLR connections. My best option for a work desktop setup is my Portaphile 627. My question is what's the best way to adapt the XLR to the 627 and its 3.5mm input?

I would use a pigtail adapter like the one on Amazon and a few other web sites.

I would leave the pigtail on the amp and just use the XLR connection.

One of the advantages of leaving the pigtail adapter on the single ended amp is that you would not have the brief short that happens when you disconnect the 3.5 or the 1/4 jack. Normally this is not a problem but I do not want spikes on the line. The XLR just has a cleaner way of disconnecting. Just looking at things for the long haul on my equipment.

Leaving the adapter connected will be no problem. Thanks, John.
