That sucks. I was set on buying them when I had the funds and then they go and raise the price. I think I might call them up and hassel them about it.

digitalfoto finally replied to my question. here's the email they sent me:

Quote:

Thank you for your inquiry.

The Sony MDR-SA5000 headphones are in stock for immediate delivery.
Price is $399.50, plus $17.50 shipping and handling.

Sincerely,

Morris

He gave me a phone number and extension as well, but I left that out. Even at $399.50, this headphone's a steal. I expected it to be around this price anyway since the CD3000s were ~$400 even though they retailed for $699.

I ordered one at $380 last Friday while it was still in stock. But after they raised the price, I am worrying if they will ship the phones to the customers who ordered at $450 first to ensure they won't cancel the order soon after other stores start selling SA5000.

I received an email from digital foto this morning asking for my phone number to discuss my issue. They called me shortly thereafter and agreed to sell the cans to me for $399. I will probably buy them and may make them available to a headfier if I decide not to keep them. I will not open the box as I have a pair on the way to demo. If someone buys my tt that is now for sale they can guarantee themselves a pair of SA5k's for $399.

GRRRR
Just received this ray of sunshine in my inbox. At least I'm pretty sure I'll get them for the original price, but the wait will be annoying.

Dear Customer,

Thank you for your recent order. Please be advised that the Sony MDR-SA5000 Headphones you ordered is backordered by th manufacturer for five to seven days. As soon as it comes in we will ship it out to you.

Thank you for your patience and have a nice day!

Now I wonder if any people who paid the higher price will avoid the backorder notification? That would be quite vexing...

I placed my order on Friday too. No notice yet from them.
