no doubt!!!

I don't know who will do the critiacal listening after the ouzo starts flowing.
You might even like the NSD-Rudi combo better than the Stockholm-SP.

The Stockholm upgrade was based on the Havana mods.

I was curious as showing the two side by side,

@rosgr63, I think the icing on the cake is here CuTF!

Here is what I found in a review: "Are CuTF V-Caps too expensive?  Some say yes.  As a part-time modder, I say no.  ….in fact, I think they’re a bargain – considering what they do for a sound system.  What else can you spend your money on that will transform your music so dramatically?  Certainly not tubes and interconnects.  The CuTF is worth the price.  If you have mediocre equipment, the caps will take the audio quality to an amazing level -- if you have high-end gear, be prepared for a trip to the moon.  These caps do not disappoint, and even if you start small, the benefits are huge" (Roger Robles, about V-Cap CuTF).

At first, after I received Havana over 2 years ago (wasn't upgraded at all), I found it lacking in the resolution section & micro-details. It was mediocre as possible in these two chapters. These capacitors did little wonders, indeed.

Currently hooked up to my Glenn OTL 6SN7/12SN7/LP2/5998.

I guess the V-Caps need more burn-is as does the amp.

I believe a few of our members from the DIY community are up to it. Plus, those in the MHDT Havana thread would know.

Hi,
I have now several hundred hours of operation and experience with Stockholm.
I modified this Stockholm drawing inspiration from the topic of Havana: Core R-transformer; fast diodes; tantalum resistors; Auricap 0.1uf; Mundorf Silver / Gold 2.2uf for output; Western Electric 396a JW; Fuse; Elna capacitor Silmic II, etc ...

This unit is really wonderful
I will soon replace the Mundorf by V-Cap CUTF 0.47uf, Robeert1 tried and I trust him 100% when he says it's like night and day compared to Mundorf.
For those who would be interrested in a Stockholm, I have a unit for sale, new, never unwrapped, 900 USD shipping included, it comes with V-Cap capacitors OIMP 2uf.
I do not know if I can give an ad for sale here, if it is forbidden, delete it

Havana react VERY positively to Black Gate electrolytic capacitors. They are the best option in the electrolytic area, the only problem is, they are'n cheap (Elna Silmic are at least 75% the price at which you buy today BG). I have replaced Elna Silmic-I, Silmic II and Cerafine with BG "FK", "F" and "N" series (on the digital section) and the results are clearly above Elna. BG give to sound attack, superior texture & resolution, but also more micro-details and turn the audition into something credible and wholly enjoyable on the level of coherence and musicality!! Continue to believe as BG, V-Cap CuTF (put both on the input and output section) and problably the japanese "K"-grade chips, are from afar the best upgrades for this DAC!

Stockholm DAC is a successor model of the successful Havana series DAC.

It is capable of up to 24bits/192kHz digital signal inputs yet remains driving
legendary PCM56P R-2R digital to analog output.

Stockholm DAC is a non over-sampling and no digital filter DAC.
To maximize the performance of PCM56P R-2R dac chip, the Stockholm is
designed to be an asynchronous operation between digital receiver and
PCM56P chip.

  1. Right Channel Analog Output – Connect to Pre-Amplifier or Receiver’s line
input
  1. Left Channel Analog Output – Connect to Pre-Amplifier or Receiver’s line
input
  1. Fiber Optical Digital input – Connect to CD Transport, CDP, DVD or PC’s
Digital Optic output. Capable of 16-24bits, 32-192kHz SPDIF digital
signals.
  1. Coaxial Digital Input / RCA - Connect to CD Transport, CDP, DVD or PC’s
Digital output. Capable of 16-24bits, 32-192kHz SPDIF digital signals.
  1. USB Digital Input - Connect to PC’s USB Port, please do not connect to
USB port on external hub to achieve better sound quality. Capable of
16-24bits at 44.1, 48, 96 kHz digital signals. No driver is needed.

Support Linux, Windows XP, SP2, SP3, Windows Vista, Windows 7 and Apple Mac.
Coaxial Digital Input / BNC - Connect to CD Transport, CDP or DVD Digital
output. Capable of 16-24bits, 32-192kHz SPDIF digital signals.

Digital Receiver CS8416
D/A converter PCM56P-J
Oscillator used to asynchronous operation: 11.2896 kHz, 0.3ppm, low jitter
Frequency response: 20 Hz to 18 kHz (± 2dB)
Output impedance: 32 ohms
Output level: 1.1 Vrms
USB input 16, 24 bits 44.1 kHz or 48 kHz, 88.2kHz, 96kHz no drivers required
USB input can be synchronous or asynchronous depends on firmware installed
All other inputs (SPDIF) 16, 24 bits 32 kHz up to 192 kHz

US $1028 er there abouts
Sorry to be dumb but do you mind explaining "asynchronous operation between digital receiver and chip." My DAC would be fed USB in from SMS-200 Ultra Neo streamer. Is that "asynchronous?"

The description you quote says "asynchronous operation between digital RECEIVER and chip" - it describes data flow within the Stockholm DAC. Nothing to do with the digital source. Oh, by the way, the USB connection between your SMS-200 and the Stockholm DAC is also asynchronous. Nothing to worry about.:relaxed:
