So they fixed the audible pop on opening of audio streams and the fix isn't a firmware fix but a hardware fix? Isn't that called a design defect that really should be recalled for a $7k+ component?

Actually, the current price is $8K .

I have heard the design issues have been fixed, however does not matter to me as I changed my order to the new MA8950 integrated. Like the idea of the ability to upgrade from the DA2 module if so desired in the future + a 1 box solution.

Will sell my D100 and MA6600 once delivery date is confirmed.

I've. had my D1100 for 5 years I'm streaming with an Aurender N10 using the Conductor app and I've never had problems with a pop in the sound at startup. Same with JRiver. It's only with Roon. On ComputerAudiophile the Roon rep acknowledged the problems with McIntosh and they were working to resolve it.

I am using D1100 and MC462 to drive Sonus Faber Amati.
I know that D1100 is a pre-amp but I wonder the pre-amp is good enough or not?
Is there any better result if I add one more pre-amp (such as C53, C2700, C500, C1100...) before Power-amp MC462 and make D1100 to be a DAC only (using fixed output)?

And one more thing, is there any differences beetween C53 and D1100 sounds? As I saw, D1100 has XLR digital input and XLR fixed output, that's better than C53!

The C2700, C500 & C1100 are really good preamps. The new C12000 is friggn amazing

I know someone who has 2 MC 601s. C1100 Pre and D1100 for his DAC. He ended up sending the C1100 back because the D1100 as a pre and DAC is amazing. I suspect it was more about money. He was very happy with the D1100 as a Pre and Dac and decided to save 14 thousand.

It happens. The D1100 is a preamp dac but is missing a few features the C1100 has. He may not have needed those features.

It happens. The D1100 is a preamp dac but is missing a few features the C1100 has. He may not have needed those features.

Can you show me some better features of C1100 when we compare to D1100 pre-amp? Thank you!

I have 601s, C1100 and D1100. I love my system. The C1100 is a superb Preamp. The D1100 is a great stand alone DAC. I have an Aurender N10 hooked up the D1100 and it's magical sounding. I also have a Sonos connect hooked up to the D1100 for Internet radio and believe it or not it sounds great. I have my Directv box hooked up the D1100 so I can listen to all the great music channels Directv offers.

Now if you use Roon via D1100 there is cracking sound when your start a song. I don't use Roon. Aurender Conducter and I've never had any problems. Roon can't get its act together with McIntosh.

For some people like the person I know he likes his 601s and a combination of D1100 as preamp and DAC.

I've never done that because it isn't hooked up that way. I'd have to move some stuff to get behind my system to make changes.
