Received my replacement 5B/254A adapter today from Xulingmrs and so can finally listen to these great sounding tubes . They have wonderfull clarity and punch . Sound excellent with Acoustic music like this album , I love the version of Queens Under Pressure by Shawn Mendes, check it out on qobuz or tidal

Those are 5a/254a. Both 254m and 254a are excellent in Ultimate. Deya's adapters for 5a/254m might be coming tomorrow.

Lastly, I tested some headphones, then gave them all away, only to finally pick up the HD800s again, whose sound when connected to UltimatE leaves practically nothing to be desired. The EC86 with 5B/254M are a good starting point.

I know of someone who has some of the best tube amps (Eddie Current 445 is one of them) and he has only one headphone - HD800.

Congrats on the 5b/254m and the adapters while they are still available.

No he has quit. This job is too hard. It's constantly changing. You don't need a spreadsheet. Everyone should be an expert now. Every tube and adapter should be at fingertips.

OH has he , shame . I have a crap memory and find it invaluable . Might try to do it myself

In case you're wondering why @rollinbr hasn't post in a while, he has just moved and have some health issues. However he is enjoying his Super Silver Supreme with WE300b tubes. That's what he told me.

@Leicachamp recommended a friend to McChanson amps and he ordered Destiny and a Junior Wooden Ultimate. Someone else also enquired about Supreme or Ultimate. So looks like things are getting real busy for Eric.

Eric told me prospective customers wants the best parts for the amps. They want Super Silk o/p transformers, not just Silk. That's $1000 a pair at the current price and the wait is quite long.

With the headphone amplifier, the HD800(S) scales remarkably, the headphones are also comfortable, leaving little to be desired... OK, maybe an Axel Grell OAE1 for a change

The 5b/254m were an excellent recommendation, apart from the sound aspects, one tube measures up like the other.
