A pair of power tubes, Sylvania 6L6GA. I was surprised, it sounded as good as KT66. Very clear, holographic and airy,

What happens when I use one 5b/254a and one 5b/254m? Nothing happened. It's stereo. :relaxed:

Just shows that they are electrically similar but with different base.

Now don't you use one KT88 and one 6550. You'll get a mongrel.

These old favourite drivers pair very well with GEC 807 or 5b/254a or 254m. Not surprising.

Mullard ECC35
Siemens c3g
Mullard ECC31
GEC VR135
GEC A2900
GEC L63 smoke glass

I've yet to drop in my 6SL7s and other 12a*7. There's no bad pairing really.

I can't believe it. @Deyan has make my 5b/254m adapters after I talked to him one hour ago. I haven't even paid him. Does he just wave a magic wand?

Very nice, did you get them for the shorter top cap wire ?

Tubes are slowly but surely taking over my CD case :astonished:.

I got them for all the reasons. Better quality, looks, shorter wire. Most important of all is the tube insertion into the adapter. Mrs X ones are very hard to insert.

I got to get me some of those. . .

Problem is now I want to have him made me many more adapters to replace my EL38, EL39, EL12spez, 807, 254a, VR135, etc adapters.

Deyan made me adapters since GOTL days.... incredibly I sold them off and tubes with GOTL after I got Oblivion because I thought that I wouldn't need tubes anymore except 6av6 and EL81.

In the short time, your collection have grown and all the good quality ones. Not only have my tubes grown but I must have 50+ adapters now. Never remove the labels from the adapters because you wouldn't know what they are if you do.

Those EL3N and EL11 to C3g adapters bring back so many memories, they were the very first custom ones I've made.

It brings back memories for me too. Rather painful ones because it reminds me that I got rid of all these good tubes and adapters with GOTL in a fire sale. The benefactor is @paramesh :relaxed:

There will never be another fire sale.

@crakers7
Nice collection, there are a few good ones.
What do you think of the Kt88 winged C from Svetlana?
I haven't yet found the right driver tube that would fit.
I find the EL34 Winged C from Svetlana much livelier and more open when I hear them both.
I was wondering whether the KT88 Svetlana might need a few more hours than 100h to open up.
@UntilThen
Phew, you have a lot to do with the adapters, that's why I've always ordered from Deyan.
Personally I think as long as yours are still working why?
If it looks really nice then my suggestion would be to have adapters made for your favourite tubes.
Deyan recently made me the adapters for EL38 and another two for the Euforia so I can run KT66/88, EL34 with 6v6.
They were with me within 2 weeks and look great.
I like his work and expertise.
Also very nice of him that he already has the 5B/254m ready.
I will postpone the project for 1-2 months.
@VanHai very nice and good to know, I still have this Sylvania on the screen, I like your pictures they are always very contrasty and clear, like Albert his almost.

Today I used EZ81 Sylvania, 6V6 Mullard and 12AT7 Ultron.
Tonally the 6v6 Mullard sounded very good, strong bass, nice silky midrange and smooth treble.
Something sounds a bit harsh at times I hope it's just the burn in disappearing.
Today I also ordered something else which I hope I won't regret.
But it will take a good week before it arrives and then I'll have to find time to implement it.
But I don't want to give too much away yet 😉.
