The adapters for 5b/254a have arrived and I have been listening for about nearly 4 hours with 6S15P or 6N6P-N. These power tubes are a real kick in the gut. Nice punch. :relaxed: From memory they sound very much like the 5b/254m but I can only confirmed when the latter replacement adapter arrive.

I was also thinking about the 6S15P and 6N6P-N drivers - are they better than my Siemens c3g and GEC A2900 respectively. So I pop in the latter and no those russian drivers are not better. The best are already in my possession. I need not crave for these russian drivers.

So here it is now running Siemens c3g and ITT 5b/254a. Super clear and punchy without fatigue. Love it !

Can you use this box where you are attached to the. side how much current the tubes draw and thus determine whether the tubes are faulty?
If so, where did you buy it?
I bought this for my other tube amp which is manual bias and the built in Vu metre is not accurate . I only use it in UltimatE when i put in new tubes to see if both are working properly as we only have one set of test points . I like to see what both tubes are doing as I have had a couple of faulty tubes lately . You definitely don't need it with UltimatE but I have it so may as well use it .

Tried to capture the beauty of a 807 with a long exposure night shot:

This is a Russian made Ulyanovsk tube from September 1974 masquerading as a US made Philips.
All the markings were removed including the date but a thoughtful comrade worker wrote the date inside the tube on the top mica.

Very nice presentation with great bass together with Ken-Rad 6C5.

The rust on the left 6C5 adds to the rustic bass lol...

Just pop in Mullard ECC35 long glass with ITT 5b/254a and it's a new dawn. :relaxed: My fav drivers are ECC35 and c3g. Every other drivers are just playing catch ups. ymmv.
My adapters also arrived today , so I will be trying that exact combo soon :o2smile:

They said they will send adapter replacement and asked if i could check it with multimeter , not sure how , all i can really do is test for continuity ?

why would there be a need to check when my worked?
eh? she asked me if I had a multimeter and if I could test my faulty adapter because she can't understand why it doesnt work .
