So as I write this I'm on hold with Monster hoping to get my failed turbines fixed on warranty, they keep playing a live 3 doors down song over and over again. I'm going to ask for some free **** because this is unbearable.
Anyway,
I picked up a pair of the iM-590's to tide me over until i get my Turbines fixed. I've been quite surprised with how they sound, especially for the price. I'd say they come very close to matching the turbine sound with more detailed but less visceral bass.
However, the right monitor has some horrible microphonics issue. Whenever any pressure is exerted I get a very loud 'staticky/squishy' noise. It happens when I put it in and even if I just barely touch the housing. I think it's an issue with the tip rubbing on the nozzle or the housing someplace. I've put many different types of tips on but it doesn't make a difference.
Does anyone have any ideas on what I can do to fix this? I would prefer not to send these back as I think they are quite nice and the fact that they weigh almost nothing makes them perfect for the gym. But this extra noise is a deal breaker as it completely drowns out the music on the right side when it happens.
Any suggestions or advice are much appreciated.
oh hey, Monster disconnected me. Great! Now I have to get back in the queue again....
