Press the volume knob into the unit and hold it when turning on the unit and it will bring up the menu to change options.

You can either set it as a DAC only, meaning headphone output is disabled, or have it mute whichever is inactive, or you can have both active at the same time. When using the mute whichever is inactive mode, it will remember the volume at which it was muted independently. So if you have sensitive headphones with the volume set to -40dB and active monitors that need it at -10dB, you can switch back and forth without blowing your headphones.
It pairs with the HD600 beautifully!
(@Maxvla I'd love to see that custom black HD800 - where does one get something like that done?)

@Maxvla: looking forward to your x-sabre vs mini-i pro impressions, if you are planning to write something up
Just hooked up a Mini-I Pro to my Fostex TH900's, and so far so good. It's handling any file I throw at it, and initial impression is very positive. Good soundstage and very dynamic.
That's great to hear. How do you compare how they drive to your other amps?
floydfan3 said:Still early, but here it goes. All comparisons with TH900
Vs Teac UD501 amp stage
- much more volume. UD501 at full volume = Matrix Mini-I Pro @ 50%
- soundstage about the same (and the UD501 was good).
- more bass impact with the Matrix.
- Matrix is a little brighter, but not uncomfortably so
- remote is a nice addition
Vs Burson Soloist
- nice to have a a stepless vs stepped volume pot
- Burson has more forward midrange. Matrix isn't recessed, but vocals do pull back a little
- Burson produced more low bass with the TH900.
- soundstage seemed "taller" with the Burson, but about the same width.
- Burson has better detail retrieval, and instrument separation.
Honestly, as a one piece solution, at the price it's a pretty compelling package. The TH900 is pretty easy to drive, but so far, the Mini-I pro seems like a good match.
