I'd say the HD58X will not sound anything like the HD700 and this is due to owning HD598, HD600, HD650, HD6XX, and HD700 and having heard the HD660S a few times. The HD700 is just in a different class from the 5 or 6 series IMO.

I don't think that the HD 660S sounds like HD 700 at all though. I had HD 700 briefly and I've tested tested HD 660 S twice. HD 660 S was much closer to HD 595 than HD 700. I would say that the main difference between 660 S and 595 is the bass and sound stage.

OK for clarification I liked the HD700 tuning, I was a fan of those cans sold them, also owned the 800, and the 800s. I THINK I will like the SQ of the 58X because of its tuning and Jude graph, I like a little more treble a top, in my Sound Sig everything I have read points to that, and most review strongly suggest that they will sound similar to the 660s..
I hope now that, that clear things up.

This is exactly my plan. Once I know where the HD58X falls in the scheme of things overall I'll either wait for the next massdrop release or skip to a pair of 660s.

Not sure what you mean. Estimated shipping date has always been in July (for all drops so far).

Yep it redirects me to the actual "Ready to ship" page, which includes stuffs like the k7xx and not the hd58x.

I received my AKG K7XX last week and expect they will occupy me for a couple of months until the HD58X arrive.

When I installed the Dekoni ear pads (standard, no additional cost option) onto my HD650 the most noticeable change was to the bass. It increased in quantity and tightened up the bass a bit. If the bass on the HD58X is a bit weak these pads might be an interesting solution. However the Dekoni pads also made the presentation a bit more forward.

Is there a possibility that Massdrop may do another drop for the 58X at some point? I would love to try and get a pair of those at the 'drop price'.

With MassDrop you never know but if the K7XX, HD6XX and TH-X00 are any indications then I expect the HD58X to be offered a few more times.

Go to the Massdrop site, click on DROPS, scroll down to RECENT DROPS, scroll down further to find the HD58X ,click the REQUEST button.

Currently it shows that there are over 400 requests for the HD58X. That seems like a fair amount of interest so perhaps they might initiate another drop some time soon. If so, they will notify you by email that another drop is being offered.

The wait for the hd6xx’s second drop was quite long but overall I don’t think any MD product would truly be “limited”. I’m waiting on the HE4xx though
