Yeah, I was really weary at first, but Beagle has a lot of experience and if he thinks it's good it may be worth a splurge.

I really like them but can only recommend a long audition or a purchase where they can be returned if not satisfied. Nobody can guarantee that someone else will like something they like.

Wondering how well they isolate? how significant they improve with amping? and a brief comparison with the K550 if you are obliged

Very good isolation, sound changes with amping. Funny you mention the K550....there is a distinct similarity. Mikros obviously has a smaller spacial area (what we like to call soundstage) but the tonal balance, clarity and dynamics are similar. But I need to do more comparison.

I had to ask.  Have you played with the Beyerdynamic DT1350 much.  I thought they were blah in the beginning.  They are a bit tricky to find the sweet spot.  I was playing with them for days then one day I put them on in a way never before and they were transformed into something amazing.  They are my go to portable phone.  They do not compare to my HE-400 at home but they blow my Grado SR80i, Vsonic GR07 in ears and my senns HD25 II away.  Give them a good try.  Once you find that sweet spot it is heaven.

I have the DT1350 and it is still a very worthy headphone. I took them on the train with an ipod and was in heaven. I still find the midrange a bit problematic and uneven. But bass and treble are almost ideal. Yes, I had to really adjust and experiment with fit to get the best sound. I found the sweet spot with the earlobes inside the earpads.

Have you had the T50p? I've owned both, and even though everyone tends to prefer the DT1350 I found the p was more my game.
