Martin Logan Mikros 90 On-Ear Headphones

I understand that there are different variations between the mikros and my dx1000 is a modded one... My modded dx1000 is tuned more to a "normal" sound. Stock it has quite wonky but rather enjoyable presentation. But it is indeed incredible how well these two match. I did not hear the resemblation this much when I first received the mikros but if I did not know better I could have been fooled into thinking I'm listening to dx500 a portable version of dx1000 that never existed. It would make sense too... Mikros are rather polarizing headphones, some consider these top notch some don't think these are not good at all. Just like with dx1000. I't might just be my pair or my hearing but what ever it is I'm one lucky guy having my favorite tonalities in both portable an in fullsize form. Pataburd- you really need to try dx1000. I'f I were an american I would send you my pair. If you ever get your hands on one, tell me...And I will let you know about the mods how to tweak it into something less colored. :)

The DT770/600 have about 130 or so hours on them now.
Still denote a treble emphasis [and a slight treble hardness], thin midrange and somewhat reticent bass with the Beyers.
The Mikros 90 "clobbered" them last night with a much more full and balanced sound, but the Beyers are probably not optimally amped at this point.
Have noticed that the Beyers can sustain higher volume without sounding as raspy as before [burn-in effects?].

Lors,
Will try the ß22 tonight.
When the Fitz-improved Bada PH-12 comes back, I think that might be a worthy amp for the Beyers.  At least I liked the Bada/Beyer synergy when I had the DT880/600 [and T1].
Story of my [Head-Fi] life: low gain amps and high gain headphones, or vice-versa.
The Mikros 90 [Stock Pair #2|0514] really do sound satisfying, though: superb balance, natural weight, luscious tone and way-above-average resolution.  I don't think the DT770 will ever touch them in the natural "weight and warmth" department, however.
We'll see--or "hear" rather.

Have succumbed to the anti-hype of another polarizing and maligned set of headphones.
The AKG K812 will be arriving at the end of the week.

Nice...congratulations.

You've gone crazy lately with all the headphone purchases.

The ß22 is not a great match for the DT770 because it tends to accentuate the already bright character of the Beyers.
The beta does not optimally drive low impedance headphones like the Mikros 90, either.  I think it might be custom-made for the HD-650, though.
It might also be the next thing up on the FS forums.  : )
Can't wait for the "return" of the Bada PH-12 and all that 6SN7 tastiness!!!
