DT880/2003 earcups have a flat, as opposed to rounded, profile on outer edge.
2003 version were 250 ohm only.  Always wanted to hear the 600 ohm drivers in the DT880/2003 housing.

The DT880/2003 show up, "NOS", on ebay from time to time.
They need tubes to plump up their relatively thin and somewhat sterile stock signature.  But when the tubes [and the stars] are right, the DT880/2003 sound really nice.
As nice as the Mikros 90?  Probably not as dynamic, balanced and musical as the MLs.
Just musing.
DT990/600 are up for sale already.   : )

  burgunder,
Have not heard the T70 yet.  But may give them a whirl.
What do Denmarkers prefer about the T70 over the H800 and T1?
pb

I took a look at the theads at the danish forum, and it seems that the popularity comes from the dry and analytical nature of the T70. But it also seems to have a better defined soundstage than the  HD800 and seems to have more intimate vocals.

Have read some conflicting reviews stateside.
The DT990 were a disappointment for me recently.  Probably need to run them with uibes before I altogether give up hope, though.
The DT90 and the DT70 must be the tesla-reconstituted DT990 and DT770, respectively.
Again, for me, after the DT880/2003 version, Beyerdynamic never seemed to be the same soundwise.

They were for me as well.... and the dt880 (2005 version) were too. I just thought they were both absolutely horrible (ridiculously grainy treble, little sub bass extension/impact), though they probably were in need of a tube amp--I still don't see it getting so good that I would consider them a headphone worth the struggle for a pairing etc.

I was expecting some redeeming quality from the 600 ohm version of the DT990, but there was none.
DT880/250 ohm 2005 version were probably the most disappointing of all the Beyers for me; the T1 as well.
Auditioning the DT990/600 served to reaffirm just how exceptional the Mikros 90 are, and continue to be.
UPOCC copper cable due in later this week.

Just sharing my affordable and very enjoyable setup: ipod touch 1st gen + go-dap 03 + mikros 90.

The idea started when I see a relatively cheap go-dap gd-03 on Amazon. As it is for iphone 3g/3gs, the portable amplifier is discontinued and put on sale.
http://www.amazon.com/Go-Dap-GD-03-Black-iPhone3GS-x3000/dp/B0060HI2P2

At $20, it is no brainer for an amplifier which originally retailed for $200.
I have ipod touch 1st gen and 3rd gen. The 1st gen fit perfectly, whilst 3rd gen, being slimmer, needs some pad (I use cheap jelly case which the bottom part I cut).
Some people even fit it with iphone4 or higher by using adapter or cable.

Now I am considering to order another one with different colour :)
