Does anybody on here know how the DX300 compares to the Lotoo Paw Gold Touch?
I know. DX300 has no chance. He is good, but not against LPGT.

How is LPGT bass presence relative to DX300?
LPGT is more accurate and natural. It is more correct and attentive to light moments and more massive and variable in ordinary or heavy powerful parts. Larger dynamic range. The DX300 is a bit drier, simpler and more schematic.

I appreciate all the responses. I love Sonys, but I think I'm going to get the LPGT next.

I have owned both the LPGT and the WM1Z, but not at the same time, so I can't make a direct comparison.
But even with the custom firmwares that I've been able to put on the WM1Z, I think from memory I'd probably say the LPGT has the superior sound quality.
And without doubt, the (MUCH) faster boot-up time :D
Of course, there's still a tonne of things to love about the WM1Z as well; gorgeous gold colour, design, UI, reliability, customisability (in terms of custom FWs) etc.
But yeah, I don't think you'll regret buying an LPGT :)

How durable is the LPGT finish? You have to be quite careful with the original LPG.

It’s aluminum so you can still get some dings depending on what is inflicted on it. Unless you get the titanium one.
Titanium is that much harder? Wow.

It matters if you plan on using the dap without some case. But as it comes bundled with one, unless the extra thickness or profile is a dealbreaker, it should cover most cases, besides maybe the top as the leather cases (lotoo, dignis) I see don't cover that part.

Are there any Whispers out there of an updated LPGT or successor?

Someone last year wrote not before the end of 2022. BUT this was before the whole pandemic and the burning down of the AKM chip factory and all that chip delivering problems we have right now. So I guess it won’t happen anytime soon. Moreover there are some guys who prefer the older LPG‘s sound over the more neutral take of the LPGT, so something new isn’t always better.
I personally LOVE its neutral take.
