Hi there guys,

I am looking for a decent sound card (usb) at max 120$.

I need the sound card only for listening to music. I want to use my small PC as a Mediaplayer, connected to my amp

I was pondering to buy the Behringer UCA222, but then the price seems to cheap for me to get a decent sound.

Here's my rig :

- Raspberry Pi Linux computer,
- Sony F590ES Amplifier (Quite heavy about 40 Pounds, with a big PSU)
- 2 Monitor Audio speakers ~ 70 cm in heights out of the 70's , rather crystal clear , not so emphasized bass

So in short, which USB Sound Card have the best sound quality given my demand ?

Ps : Currently I'm using the Sound Card of this headset : http://www.creative.com/soundblaster/tactic3d/alpha/ , but it has no improvement over my desktop PC onboard sound

A USB "sound card" would not be the best choice for improving music audio quality, I'm assuming your looking for an external USB DAC
to go between the Linux PC and the Sony amplifier.

A USb DAC/headphone amplifier might be a better choice.
Like the Fiio E10 USB-DAC-Headphone amplifier, $44.99 at Adorama, plug it straight into your Linux PC's USB port.
The Fiio E10 also comes with a line out to connect to your Sony, for improved speaker audio.

The Hifimediy Sabre USB DAC, $52, would be a good value to connect between the Linux PC and the Sony amp. (for speaker sound).
but the Fiio E10 has a better headphone amplifier for driving headphones.

Do you use the mic on your current headphones?
If not, then sell of the Creative headphone and get the Technical Pro HPT990 (Takstar hi2050) for $70

I think I would rather go for the  Hifimediyi, because I wont need an headphone amp.
Do you have a supplier for the Hifimediyi Europe / USA ?

It would take  3 weeks  to be shipped from China to Germany . :xf_eek:

Thanks for your advice, btw

Hifimediy Sabre USB DAC, $45 + $29 shipping, if you want it in a week, there are a few difference shipping rates.
