Looking for new 'phones, i'll be using them for Gaming, Music and Movies. $150~. Ultrasones?

Hello everybody, i just got a question and I think this is the right place to ask it.
 
I'm in a adventure to find the right headphones for me, and Ultrasone has gotten my attention.
 
I started some time ago with the Sony MDR-V150, those were my first headphones and I liked them, after a year of so changed to the Sennheiser HD 203 which I liked a lot, but I just wasn't satisfied, NOW I WANTED MORE, so I kept searching and that's how I got here, to head-fi.
 
I read tdockweiler thread about the Koss PRO DJ100 and I was so amazed on his praises to those 'phones that I just couldn't resist and bought ones...
 
That was the biggest mistake of my life (talking about purchases of course) I just didn't liked anything about them, those were VERY uncomfortable for me, there was ABSOLUTELY  NO BASS and the soundstage which I needed for gaming was almost as non existent as the BASS.
 
Luckily I was able to return them to BestBuy and get my $90 back.
 
Now I'm looking for new cans and I've heard (and by that I mean read) that most Ultrasone's 'phones offer some sweet BASS, nice/good/decent mids, a little harshing highs (which can be tamed with BURN-IN), and above average soundstage for a closed design.
 
The question is, which one should I get?
 
I'm going to use them, for everything... And that is:
GAMING: I spend a lot of time playing FPS, right now most of the time i'm playing Black Ops 2, hearing my enemy FOOTSTEPS is a must.
MUSIC: I don't listen to any specified genre but I usually listen to electronic music (dubstep, DnB & Electro House).
MOVIES
 
I'm NOT doing any monitoring or mixing.
I don't mind if it is a closed or an open design.
I don't care about sound isolation.
I would prefer to avoid coiled cable.
 
I'll be powering them with a FiiO E6 which will be arriving to my home in a month or so. I'll be using my iPod Touch 4 with a LOD and my Xbox 360 RCA (red and white) audio output adapter.
 
I got the HFI-680 ($133) and the HFI-2400 ($189) in mind, are they good enough  for electronic music? Is the HFI-680 good enough for gaming and electronic music?
 
The HFI-680 price is just <3. But i'm still open for opinions.
 
Well if you are still here reading this BIG post the only thing I can say is thank you for your interest and I would love to see some replies.

Hello!

If bass & soundstage are your top propriety & since you loves your HD203 which I never tried before but sounds like it has bass judging by the graph and some reviews. The HD439 is a very resonable upgrade. It has plenty of bass and should pair well with your FiiO E6. Soundstage are pretty good to me. Back to amping, without an amp pairing it straight out of my iNano 3rd, it has quite some bass with dark vocals(shouldn't be a problem for your genres of music). Ones I pair it with an amp, WOW! Things brighten up! The bass got more & tighten. Mids stand out better while the highs remains laid back. Details & soundstage are great. Best for it's price.

I never had my chance to try those HFI but hopefully I could next month when I visit Singapore xD Anywhere, if you need bass, why not HFI-580? I heard good stuff from them try search for some reviews around here. It should help you.

Hi I had the HFI-2400 for a Long period of time. I live in the hottest spot of Germany and i Iove Long on-line gaming sessions including LAN parties. he HFI-2400 is the better selection in a warm and humid environment simply because of the velour earpads. They sound terrifically playing all Kind of shooters and adventures. Great on telling you where the enemy is, even if there is someone under or above you in a building. The comfort is also very good. Had them running from an ASUS XONAR STX with the Dolby gaming mode. Highly recommended.
And yes they can also Play you electronica Music..

How would you think the HFI-2400 would perform on this "Shirobon - Running My Head (feat. Camden Cox)"? Do you think $189 USD is a nice price?

Hi!

To my knowlege, E6 only boost bass for most 3dB. Do note that, great soundstage & bass are very rare with just one headphone but since you are planing to use E6 as bass boost, it shouldn't be a problem.

I would love it with the HFI-2400. Tested it with my PRO-2900 directly from my GALAXY NOTE. Would be even better from a good player/amp combo.

I owned the HFI-2400 for 3 month before upgrading to a far more expensive ( but addictive) Ultrasone and HFI is very very good. I don't play games but when used for film , it performs extremely well to reproduce sounds and their spatialization , so i can't imagine hfi-2400 be wrong for gaming.
 
Bass are good both in quantity and quality but never boomy , Trebles aren't harsh as sometimes with Ultrasone pro series but mids are laid-back . So, IMO HFI-2400 is not the best option for Rock/Folk/singers . Its territory is (still IMO) more EDM, R&B, Hip-hop , Funk and Classical but HFI-2400 remains a decent all-rounder.

just wanted to share my experience with Ultrasones. I have the Pro 550 model and absolutely love them. I am a Grado lover when it comes to music, but gaming and movies are all done with the Ultrasones on my head! They do hurt my head after a few hours though, but I rarely have them on that long to worry about it. Overall though, the Ultrasones are great cans in my opinion.

Yeah, pain from the band occurs after a few hours use. I guess you could say I have a large head????

  Don't get me wrong though, I want everyone in the world to have a pair of Ultrasones, I love them!
