Yeah I’ll definitely keep a look out for those OG clears. I’ll be traveling a lot in July and I may end up being able to attend Can Jam London which would be a nice way to sample (although not entirely sure considering it’s a noisy floor).

If you have t have a planar, I'd recommend checking out the Quad Era-1. I think there's a used one in the classifieds right now for 400 bucks. This is one of the few planars I've heard that somewhat resembles a dynamic.
Kennerton is also a brand I would suggest looking into. I've owned a few Focal cans, including the Clear MG, and I've found Kennerton to be more dynamic and engaging in general. Not many people have tried the Ibasso SR2, but it's an absolute steal for the price. It just does everything right, and is still my favorite current headphone. So much so, I like it better than any 1000 dollar plus can I've tried. If interested, read through the dedicated thread, and make sure to check out the review from member Voja. At the end of the day, it's a matter of finding the proper can that closely aligns with your tastes and preferences. Unfortunately, the only way to truly know is to sample and let your ears tell you what they want.

umm,.. hmm based on your bass requirements and sound profile request, I’d probably recommend some Sony mdrZ7 (you said you’d consider second hand)
their low bass rumble is ‘the real deal’, their soundstaging is great (movies and games, yes!)
hybrid open/closed,.. best of both, and leaks sound, but has bass emphasis.

i mucked around with planars (sundaras and a couple of audezes) and just decided I needed a dynamic (went with ultrasone edition 5)
the sonys are not as resolving as the ultrasones (different tiers of kit, unfair compare)
but; they meet all your reqs, as far as the first post went (although i am tired and should be in bed), I’d say these would make your list..
my child doesn’t cherish much beyond the meze99s they use, but loved the mdrz7
they really are exceptional gaming/movie cans, with a low bass rumble I am unfamiliar with in any other headphone (with open back sound profile)
